Subject: Group Annuity/Group Funding Agreement Endorsement
Dear Plan Sponsor:
Enclosed is an Endorsement which describes a change being made to your Group Annuity/Group Funding
Agreement issued by Hartford Life Insurance Company.
This Endorsement brings your Group Annuity/Group Funding Agreement into alignment with the U. S.
Supreme Court's ruling in the case of United States v Windsor, Executor oj'the Estate ofSpyer, striking
down section 3 of the federal Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) as unconstitutional.
No action is necessary by you with respect to this Endorsement. Please retain a copy with your Group
Annuity/Group Funding Agreement for future reference. If you have any questions, please call your

Retirement Plans Group("RPG")business. MassMutual has no affiliation,and the RPG business no longer has any affiliation,
with the Hartford Financiat Services Group, Inc. or any of its subsidiaries. MassMutual has been appointed by Hartford Life
Insurance Company ("JILIC") to provide all administrative services necessary to support the insurance contracts issued by HLIC
in connection with the RPG business.

This Endorsement shall be issued as part of the group annuity contract, group annuity certificate
or group funding agreement (hereinafter referred to as the "Contract") issued in conjunction with
a Plan that satisfies the provisions of Sections 403(b), 457 or 401 of the Internal Revenue Code.
The conditions and provisions of the Contract continue to apply except as amended herein. The
provisions of this Endorsement shall supersede and control any conflicting language in the
Contract.
Notwithstanding anything to the contrary tinder the terms of the Contract, effective on the later of
August 2, 2013 or the Coact Effective Date, the Contract is hereby amended as follows
regarding the federal Defense of Marriage Act ("DOMA"):
"The U.S. Supreme Court recently overturned Section 3 of the federal Defense of Marriage Act
("DOMA") under which same-sex marriages were not recognized for purposes of federal law,
including federal tax law. In addition, the t.S. Treasury Department and the U.S. Internal
Revenue Service recently issued guidance in Revenue Ruling 2013-17 holding that, as of
September 16, 2013 (and, in certain circumstances, retroactively), same-sex couples who are
married in a jurisdiction that recognizes the marriage, will be treated as married for federal tax
purposes, regardless of whether the jurisdiction in which the couple resides would recognize the
marriage. As a result, the favorable tax treatment afforded to a spouse by federal tax law is now
available to same-sex married spouses, and any terms contained in your Contract and/or in any
prior endorsement to your Contract stating the contrary are no longer effective."
