Re: Bulkhead Permit
Corey Creek Property
_Ap_pl_icant- James Bitses
Gentlemen:
I respectfully request an extension of the above bulkhead
permit for an additional period of one year. This extension is
necessary because the Department of Environmental Conserva-
tion has requested a new survey for the subjecbproperty. The
mere fact that this matter has been before the said department
for eighteen months seems to be of no importance to the said
department. Last month, out of the blue, they asked for a
new survey.
Accordingly I would appreciate it if you would
kindly extend my permit for an additional year.
Thanking you for your courtesy, I am

Re: C.R. 48, Middle Road/Hashamomuck Pond, Town of Southold
Dear Mr. Bredemeyer:
We are in receipt of your letter of November 9, 1984, in regard to
your difficulties with water quality at Hashamomuck Pond. I met earlier
with Ray Dean, your Town Superintendent of Highways, and with Paul
Stoutenburgh of the Town Board, and the three of us reviewed this problem
in the field.
This department would have no objection, and would be glad to assist
the Town in filling in the hole and placing any additional rubble or rip-
rap or splash blocks in this area. However, there are two problems with
this proposal. One, it may be necessary to apply for a receive a permit
from State Dept. of Environmental Conservation since this area may be
declared a wetlands. Secondly, the hole that is being filled we believe to
be on private property, and it will be necessary to secure the permission
of the owners of this property to accomplish this work. Also, this culvert
serves a drainage area off of private property to the north of North Road
and although some of the water is being piped along North Road into this
culvert, there is a considerable contribution of flow from the north over-
land into this area so that the total problem may not be just with the
water coming off the road.
Again, we will be glad to work with you to try to relieve as much of
this problem as possible, and question whether the Town would wish to apply
to DEC and the owners for permission to do this work or whether you wish to
undertake it as a joint project. Please contact this office with your
thinking in this matter.
