Meeting Of January 5, 1976
A regular meetin~ of the Board of Southold Town Trustees was
held at 7:30 P.M., Monday, January~ 5, 1976 at the town board
meeting room, 16 South Street, Greenport, New York, with the
following present:
AlvahB. Goldsmith, Chairman
Douglas M. Rob~rtson
Philip G. Horton
George C. Bird. ..
Joseph Hataier

Also present: Paul Stoutenberg & William Terry - North Fork
Environmental Council; Bob Rinklin- L.I. Traveler
Application of Ernest W. Guettinger, Oak Street, Cutchogue, for
permission to.reconstruct end.repair dock and to construct ramp,
~/float,. and two mooring piles on Eugene's Creek, Oak Street,
Cutchogue, was tabled by the Boarduntil such time as applicant
submits amended plans of the dock running parallel to the shoreline.
The Board is of the opinion that these docks should not be placed
at 90 degree angles,~they should be kept parallel to the shoreline.
Application of A.B~ Rosenber~, 250 Grist'Mill Lane, Great'Neck, ~
N.Y. for dredging~at SterlingCreek, Greenport, was tabled by the
Board until such time as they are~in receipt of other information
?and proceedings. The Chairman reported that Mr. Rosenb~rg's
attorney, Stanley'Corwin had just informed him that Mr. Rosenberg
is going to withdraw his amended application and agreement of
150ft. because no action has been taken and it has not been . ~
approved todate. He will now go-back to his original application
of 300ft. The Board is of the opinion that 150 ft. on the easterly
side is ample for the manuvering of any small boats. The Chairman
read the letter from the Board of Appeals dated September 12, 1975.
On motion of Mr.~Horton,.' seconded by Mr. Bird, it was
iRESOLVED that Pauline~srael,~ Osprey Nest.Road, Greenport, be
DEN~E~ permissionto ~place floating dock 'on-Gull Pond,'Greenport.
It is~the'opinionof this Board that the installation ef this dock
would be a hazard. The Board is of the opinion that these docks
should not be placed at 90 degree angles, they should be kept
paralled tO the shoreline.

Mr. Guidermann, P.E. who is preparing a log of the moorings at
Gull Pond, Greenport, stated his approval of the Board's decision.
On motion by Mr. Goldsmith, seconded by Mr. Robertson, it was
RESOLVED that the Goose Bay Civic Association, P.O. Box 1171,
Southold, N.Y.-b.e ~RANTED~permission for maintenance dredging
~-.as shown on 'the filed map ~ 1176 of the Goose Bay Civic Assoc.,
all in accordance with the detailed specifications as presented
in the originating application. Fee paid $5.00
Vote of~the BOard: A~s: ~Mr~. Goldsmith, Mr. Robertson, Mr. Horton,
Mr. Bird, Mr. Hataier.
On motion by Mr. Herren, seconced by Mr. Hataier, it was
RESOLVED that the Goose Bay Civic Association, P.O. Box 1171,
Southold, N.Y. be GRANTED permission for the installation of
f'a retaining wall as shown on filed map #~1176 of the Goose Bay
Civic Assoc., all in accordance with the detailed specifications
as presented in the originating application. Fee paid $5.00
Vote of the Board: Ayes: Mr. Goldsmith, Mr. Robertson, Mr. Herren,
Mr. Bird, Mr. Hataier.
Mr. James Castagna, Waterview Drive, Southold, N.Y. appeared before
the Board to discuss his proPosal for filling in the area directly
/~in front of his property at Goose Creek. The purpose of this would
be to protect his floating dock and still leave enough room for
maneuverability of his boat. The Board to inspect this property.
On motion by Mr. Robertson, seconded by Mr. Bird, it was
RESOLVED that the December 8, 1975 minutes of the Board of
Southold Town Trustees be approved as submitted.
Vote of the Board: Ayes: Mr. Goldsmith, Mr. Robertson, Mr. Herren,
Mr. Bird, Mr. Hataier.
On motion by Mr. Herren Seconded byMr. Hataier, it was
RESOLVED that the next meeting of the Board of Southold Town
Trustees will be held at 7:30 P.M., Monday, February 2, 1975,
at the town board meeting room, 16 South Street, Greenport,N.Y.
Vote of the Board: Ayes: Mr. Goldsmith, Mr. Robertson, Mr. Herren,
Mr, Bird, Mr. Hataier.
ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING
On motion by Mr. Robertson, seconded by Mr. Hataier, it was
RESOLVED that Alvah B. Goldsmith be designated as Chairman of
the Board of Southold Town Trustees for the year of 1976.
Vote of the Board: Ayes: Mr. Goldsmith, Mr. Robertson, Mr. Horton,
Mr. Bird, Mr. Hataier.
On motion of Mr. Herren, seconded by Mr. Hatiaer, it was
~/RESOLVEU) that Betty Neville be appointed as secretary to the
Board of Southold Town Trustees for the year of 1976.
Vote of the Boards Ayes: Mr. Goldsmith, Mr. Robertson, Mr. Horton,
Mr. Bird, Mr. Hataier.
Meeting adjourned at 9:15 P.M.
