HomeMy WebLinkAbout06/14/2013 /c SUF Q X$~U ~ .l i} t/~ ~ 9 ~ ~ i ~.y'IF ~Ot.l~, ~Qd ~ 2; rri~vS>ZY1~~ TOWN OF SOUTHOLD LOSS CONTROL PROGRAM EXECUTIVE SAFETY COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Friday, June 14, 2013 Present: Phillip Beltz, Special Projects Coordinator, Christine Foster, Personnel, Karen McLaughlin, Human Services Director, John Cushman, Comptroller, Jennifer Andaloro, Assistant Town Attorney, Councilman William Ruland, James Bunchuck, Solid Waste Coordinator, Elizabeth Neville, Town Clerk, Captain Frank Kruszeski, Lauren Standish, Secretary to Supervisor, Aoifa O'Donnell and Dona Lyman, National EAP, Christina Harris, Cintas Uniform, Jay Lewandowski, Wright Risk Management Excused/Absent: Scott Russell, Supervisor, Peter Harris, Superintendent of Highways, Chief Martin Flatley and Jeff Standish, Director of Public Works Meeting began at: 10:00 AM Approval of Minutes Approved Minutes of March 28, 2013 Christina Harris, Cintas Uniform Christina Harris from Cintas introduced customized first aid cabinets and portable kits. The cabinets and kits are serviced by Cintas to ensure compliance. Cintas provides other services as well such as uniforms and document shredding. Phillip Beltz will share document shredding services to the Economic Development Committee who may wish to sponsor for local businesses ($800 for 4 hours.) Ms. Harris will be invited to attend the next Department Head Meeting. Sharps Disposal Policv Jim Bunchuck explained the draft policy and demonstrated how the sharps disposal boxes work. He will meet with Karen McLaughlin to finalize the policy to present to the Town Board. All in agreement that the policy should provide solutions to residents in disposing of sharps rather than informing them what they cannot do. Little Green Buttons-Network Based Panic Button Policv Lloyd Reisenberg assisted the committee by installing network based panic buttons in accordance with the Town Adopted Policy. There were not enough buttons to accommodate all of the employees' desk tops but Lloyd has already contacted the company and ordered approx. 50 more. Phillip will send an a-mail to all department 2 heads to find out who still needs a Green Button. Employees have received training, however, extended training will be provided at the next Workplace Violence Training Session. Survev Dissemination (Perception of Safetyl and Workplace Violence Prevention Training Phillip Beltz will proceed with employee safety surveys in June. National EAP will provide Workplace Violence Prevention training in August with Wright Risk Mgt.who will present sexual harassment training to all employees. In addition, Bloodbourne Pathogens training and Right to Know will be provided to appropriate departments. Wright Risk Management Workers Compensation Underwriting Survev Findings The ceiling tiles in the Town Hall basement have been replaced and signage directs patrons to the front office at the Human Resource Center, space will be re-configured in the near future. Loss Drivers The Police Dept. has had the most costly losses. Proper training teaches the employees how to protect themselves in controlled environments and enforcement is the key. This includes slips and falls awareness, lifting training and proper footwear. John Cushman and Jim Bunchuck will meet with Martin Finnegan to discuss enforcement. MSDS Training 2013 Jay Lewandowski stated that all signage must be replaced with international signage and the training must be completed by December 1, 2013. Mr. Lewandowski agreed to attend the next Department Head Meeting. Related Injuries/Supervisor Accident Investigation Report A copy of awork-related accident investigation report was provided through June 2013.
