Minutes of August 19, 2013
The minutes were approved as presented.
North Ferry traffic access: III
In anticipation of increased North Ferry traffic, Mayor Nyce initiated discussion
related to improving outbound boarding traffic in Greenport Village . North Fork ,
ferry representatives presented the current access plan and possibilities for
improved flow. An extensive discussion ensued with several alternatives explored.
The committee agreed to recommend the following: Access from route 25 either
proceeding south on 4th St or 6th Street in Geenport Village. Traffic would then
proceed via Wiggins Street to 4th Street and turn left past the Railroad Museum onto
a new portion of road, north of the LIRR tracks, onto part of the existing access loop
and onto the ferry line. Traffic was to be discouraged from accessing the ferry line
via 3~d Street. This recommendation is to be presented at a public hearing in
Greenport and then re-presented to Transportation Commission.

EETC Update
A meeting was held on September 14, 2013. Heather Lanza and Chairman Neb
Brashich attended. The LIRR agreed to extend the current weekend schedule by ten
weeks to be split evenly between 2013 and 2014. No meeting is scheduled for
September. The next meeting is scheduled for October.
Supervisor's Requests i i~
Nancy Wells' request to restrict parking in front of the Mattituck Florist was denied i
because parking cannot be restricted in front of a commercial enterprise where i
parking is otherwise allowed.

Planning Board Requests j
The Commission was informed that the Transportation and Infrastructure Chapter
of the Comprehensive Plan update will be delayed until February 2014. f

A site plan for a proposed outdoor antiques flea market was presented to the
Commission for consideration and input. The ZBA has approved the use, imposing
16 conditions. Parking on site will accommodate only vendors. It was suggested
that the applicant the arrange nearby off street parking that can accommodate
shoppers. They will need to maintain clear access to travel lanes and LIRR.
Current Transportation Issues
• Bus Shelters. Two sites are to have bus shelters installed. In Southold, the
shelter will be placed in front of the Library. New schematics will be
necessary for this shelter. Jamie Richter will prepare these.
• Orientation/Interpretive Signage Project Neb will act as liaison between the
Commission, the Town Board and the DOT. This project is to include 3
informational kiosks and 3 interpretive signs.. Funding for this project has a
shortfall between available funds and lowest bid. The Town Board has
agreed to cover this shortfall to assure that the whole project will go forward.
• Handicapped Parking at Southold Pharmacy. The DOT has requested advice ~I
and consent of the Town board in this matter with the Town responsible for
signage and maintenance. The Town board will so resolve and send to the
DOT.
Old Business and New Business
The Town Board will hold a public hearing on October 8~ Z013 at 4:30 regarding
parking on Second Street in the hamlet of New Suffolk.
Next Meeting
The next meeting will take place on October 28, 2013 at 10:00 AM in the Southold
Town Hall Conference room.
