We intend to plant all of these seedlings on our beach front property and with good weather and little luck we should be able to make a real difference in stemming erosion on our property. We have worked continuously not only to stem erosion on our cliff but to preserve and enhance the natural beauty of our property. We have:. - Arranged for underground electric service to preserve the natural beauty of our property before our house was built. - Regularly planted Rugosa Rose, Autumn Olive, Flowering Locust and a special species of pine on our cliff to help stem erosion. - Driven in rudimentary piling, at the base of our cliff to hold earth. This worked fairly well. More greenery has developed. In short, your goals and our are identical. We and our family are enthusiastic and active naturalists. Sincerely, r cc: Mr. Dave Bergen James F. Petrie 11 Fairview Avenue Great Neck, New York 11023 November 29, 2006 Mr. James F. King, President Board of Town Trustees Town of Southold Town Hall Southold, NY 11971-099 Dear Mr. King: Enclosed are the forms which we have filled out to the best our ability to enable us to get a permit to: "Repair our existing stairs to the beach which were built for our daughter's wedding, August 7, 1982, and were ruined by a week of virtually steady heavy rain in October 200." It may help to know that ever since we built our house in 1973, we have worked continuously to preserve and enhance the natural beauty of our property. Before our house was built, we arranged for underground electric service to preserve the natural beauty of our property. We have regularly planted rugosa rose bushes, autumn olive, flowering locust trees and a special species of pine on our cliff-all designed specifically to halt erosion. We consistently drove in home made pilings at the base of the cliff which did, in fact, work. More greenen' did thrive. In short, we and our family are enthusiastic and active naturalists.
