HomeMy WebLinkAbout06/03/2013Town of Southold Youth Bureau Board Minutes June 03, 2013 YB Present: Elaine White, Costa Kokkinos, Cristina Witzke, Robert Duffin, Officer Bill Brewer, Karen McLaughlin, Councilman Jim Dinizio, Jr., Councilman Bill Ruland and Phillip Beltz. Aisc present, Sarah Benjamin. Excused/Absent: Jacob Branker, Sydney Campbell, Megan Demarest, Irene Tsontakis-Bradley, Andrea Nyde99er, dillian Ruroede and Jeff Standish. Approval of Minutes of May 06, 2013 Resource Directory: Phillip reported that Irene will finish proofing document and 500 copies will be printed before the end of the month. Revised Youth Activities Survey Findings: Crissy provided analysis of findings that included additional surveys from Mattituck students. While similar to the previous report, information will assist efforts for future planning of youth activities. Southold Youth Bureau Social Media Recommendations: Costa presented suggestions for advancing information and enhancing communication to the public regarding the Youth Bureau. Proposed recommendations would limit public interface with each other, allowing questions and comments designated administrators (Costa and Phillip) and other restrictions. Proposed social media outreach will be Facebook and Twitter. Costa and Phillip will work with Councilman DiNizzio to prepare something in writing for review by the Town Board for the June 18th work session. Hamptons Collegiate Baseball Youth Bureau Night: Scheduled for Saturday, July 13th 7:00 p.m. at Cochran Park. It is the All Star Game and the Youth Bureau will provide refreshments and popcorn. Bob suggested allowing patrons the ability to make donations because last year many people wanted to contribute. SC Summer Works: The Town has requested four employment slots (3 Dept. of Public Works and 1 Human Resource Ctr.) and will work with CAST to identify several participants for the program. Review of Youth Advisory Council Membership: Tabled, Phillip will speak with school liaisons about filling vacancies due to graduating seniors. FYh The North Fork Alliance will discuss "Evidence-Based Prevention Programs" on June 5th at 8:45 a.m. at Greenport High School. Other: Elaine requested status of mental health services for teens. Karen suggested contacting Kristie Golden of South Oaks and will forward contact information to Phillip. Next Meeting Date: Monday, July 8th at 5:00 p.m. Human Resource Center in Mattituck.
