More than damaging the bulkhead, the storm damaged the integrity of the bluff, which is located less than 20' from the existing house at its closest point. In order to maintain stability for the house in the coming years, the applicant has proposed the reconstruction of the existing bulkhead, the construction of a retaining wall landward of the existing bulkhead, and the modification and reconstruction of existing beach access stairs in order to maintain use of the adjacent Great Peconic Bay. No environmental impact is anticipated from the proposed structure as much of the vegetation on the bluff was killed by Hurricane Sandy. Furthermore any construction taking place on the site will be governed by Best Maintenance Practices in order to reduce the temporary environmental impact as much as possible. - S0uthoid T~n 6315375291 01-31-2013 6/13 PROJECT ID NUMBER APPENDIX C Et'ATE ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY REVIEW SHORT ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT FORM f~r UNU81'ED ACTIONS Only Suffo k Environmenta Consulting, Inc, ' Kelsey / Apicella Property Town of Southold c SUffolk 4000 Peconic Bay Boulevard, Mattituck, NY ~pli~ pmpos~ ~ repair ~e exis~ng bluff s~l~se ~ was damaged by Humane Sa~y, to ~ a high m~inlng wall, ~ghly 16 ~et lan~d ~ ~e exlsUng bul~d, and ~ns~ damaged bluff Fu~he~ore ~e appl~mnt pm~ses ~ mnstm~ a 6'x 4' ~den plaffo~ on ~p and sea.rd of~e ~lstlng bul~ead ~i~ ~11 all~ for ~e Ins~llaflon of 2' ~de m~ble aluminum bea~ a~ In to~l ~ere ~11 be 115' · of n~ m~lning wall.
