Excused/Absent: Jacob Branker, Costa Kokkinos, Irene Tsontakis-Bradley, Andrea Nyde99er, Jeff Standish, Councilman Jim Dinizio, Jr. and Councilman Bill Ruland Approval of Minutes of April 08, 2013 Welcome: Sarah Benjamin of CAST and Stella Reinen of HRC Job Fair Report: Phillip reported that the job fair was successful with 51 students in attendance who met with six employers representing approximately 25-30 summer employment positions. Students, parents and employers expressed their satisfaction and this will be continued next year. Community Service Forum Report: Bob reported that the forum was a major success with approximately 50 residents who attended to learn about volunteer opportunities from 34 organizations. The spot advertisements on WLNG featuring Supervisor Russell announcing Community Service month was very helpful. This event will also be replicated next year, a few suggestions included hosting event earlier in April as the weather generally is not as nice as it is in late April which may draw more attendees; hosting at the Recreation Center as more space was needed and it will be possible to serve coffee and donuts. Resource Directory Status: In absence of Irene and Jeff, Phillip reported that it will be ready for production in a few days. Youth Activities Survey Findings: Crissy provided analysis of findings from surveys that provided some important information for future planning of youth activities. Unfortunately there were no responses from Mattituck, however, Andrea left an envelope with many survey responses so Crissy will incorporate Mattituck surveys and provide further report next month. Southold Youth Bureau Facebook Page: In absence of Costa, Phillip reported that Costa is developing a Facebook page for the Youth Bureau with necessary restrictions and that once reviewed and approved by the Youth Bureau board, it would need to be vetted by the Town Board as the Town does not allow employees to access Facebook on Town computers. Committee recommends that if Youth Bureau proceeds with Facebook page, it should also consider additional forms of social media such as Tumblir, Twitter, Foursquare, etc. Riverhead Community Awareness Program: Stella reported on a recent workshop sponsored by Riverhead C.A P. regarding the use and abuse of prescription drugs and the importance of expeditiously discarding unused drugs. Philip reported that Southold participated in the April 27th Take Back Drugs through the North Fork Alliance. Other: Officer Brewer reported that he is attending meetings at schools regarding pre-prom meetings for parents to discuss the Social Host law. Next Meeting Date: Monday, June 3rd at 5:00 p.m. Human Resource Center in Mattituck Respectfully Submitted, Phillip Beltz
