Re: APRIL 2013 SUMMARY REPORT-SPECIAL PROJECTS COORDINATOR
Housinq:
· Facilitated Housing Advisory Commission (HAC) meeting and disseminated
minutes.
· Coordinated meeting with HAC and Les Scheinfeld, Development Director of
Habitat for Humanity to discuss funding of Orient project, timeline, etc.
· Continue assistance with resale of units at the Cottages at Mattituck.
Youth Bureau:
· Facilitated Youth Bureau Board meeting and disseminated minutes.
· Facilitated Youth Advisory Council meeting.
· Attended North Fork Alliance meeting regarding results of Bach Harrison
survey (teen use of drugs, alcohol, tobacco, etc.)
· Organized first Youth Spring Job Fair. 51 students participated along with 6
employers who had approximately 25 seasonal employment opportunities.
· With Supervisor, Councilman Ruland and Chief Flatley, meeting with North
Fork Alliance to discuss "Evidenced- Based Programs and Practices"
applications and efficacy of DARE program in preventing risky behavior.
· Through Suffolk County Council of the Boys Scouts of America, facilitated
"Learning for Life" career day discussion with students of Rocky Point Middle
School.
· Attended Suffolk County Youth Bureau Directors' meeting
· Attended Suffolk County Juvenile Justice Coordinating Council meeting.
Comprehensive Plan:
· Attended one team meeting to review and incorporate additional comments
from local environmental organizations regarding Natural Resources chapter
(Water Resources.)
· With Heather Lanza, meeting with Supervisor, Chief Flatley and Lloyd
Reisenberg to discuss draft outline for upcoming Emergency Planning
chapter.
Economic Development:
· Prepared agenda and minutes of April 26th Economic Development
Committee meeting.
· Meeting with Amy Burns, newly appointed Business Liaison to discuss
expectations and role of position.
Attended North Fork Promotion Council meeting in discussion of East End
Tourism Alliance's $340,000 grant award from the NYS Long Island Regional
Economic Council.
Other:
· Additional meeting with representatives from schools and designees of Youth
Bureau and Renewable Alternative Energy Committee to discuss
implementation of recycling in schools. Agreement to sponsor event on
November 15th-America Recycles Day.
· Coordinated April 27th Community Service Forum--approximately 50
residents attended the event to learn about volunteer opportunities from 32
community service agencies
· Meeting of Website Committee.
· Prepared April Suffolk Times Community Notices advertisement.
· Continue to monitor and address constituent requests on the Town's website
"How Do I" feature (one request in April.)
· Attended Suffolk County East End Mayors and Supervisors' Association
meeting.
