HomeMy WebLinkAbout04/10/2013 Town of Southold Housing advisory commisSion MEETING MINUTES MEETING #8'1 April '10, 20'13 Present: Rona Smith, Michael Herbert, LeRoy Heyliger, Beth Motschenbacher, Frederick Andrews Viterltti, Jeanne Kelley and Phillip Beltz. Excused: Dan Sarnowski, Eric Dantes, John Vahey and Councilman Chris Talbot. Meetin9 began at 5:30 p.m. John Approval of Minutes: The minutes of March 13, 2013 were approved. Resale of Properties at Cottaqe Way: No report, both contracts proceed. Update of Prospective Development of Apartments: No report, still developing a preliminary concept plan to present to the Planning Board. Proposed CPF Tax Exclusion for First-Time Homebuyers: No response after four attempts reaching out to Riverhead Town Attorney, Phillip requested assistance of Southold Town Attorney. Ray Dickhoff SummerWind Apartments in Riverhead: Michael and Dan have visited the site and invited Mr. Dickhoff to attend the May meeting. Presentation by Les Scheinfeld of Habitat for Humanity: Mr. Scheinfeld, Development Director, discussed timeline of proposed site in Orient, Habitat resources, funding availability and fundraising, volunteer opportunities, etc. Habitat will attend the upcoming Community Service Forum on Saturday, April 27th at 9:30 a.m. at the Peconic Lane Community Center to solicit volunteers. Other: Rona expressed the importance of HAC understanding their role as an advisory body to the Town Board and also cautioned that HAC should not demonstrate any support to the Habitat project that could be perceived as an "endorsement" as it is their project, not the Town, not HAC. As individuals, members of HAC can support as they see warranted. Fred noted that the Town Hall meeting room is much preferable meeting space than the conference room so future meetings will be scheduled there when available.
