Re: MARCH 2013 SUMMARY REPORT-SPECIAL PROJECTS COORDINATOR
Housinq:
· Facilitated Housing Advisory Commission (HAC) meeting and disseminated
minutes.
· With Rona Smith of HAC, meeting with Habitat for Humanity and Suffolk
County Real Estate department to assess tax-defaulted property for potential
affordable housing site.
· Meeting with Town Board to discuss partnership with Habitat for Humanity.
· Additional meeting with Habitat interim director to discuss the Town's
affordable housing policies, procedures and legislation.
· Continue assistance with resale of two units at the Cottages at Mattituck.
Youth Bureau:
· Facilitated Youth Bureau Board meeting and disseminated minutes.
· Facilitated Youth Advisory Council (YAC) meeting.
· With Karen McLaughlin, coordinated and facilitated YAC community service
activity for the homeless -- making dinner and delivering it to John's Place at
Mattituck Presbyterian church.
· Two meetings with volunteer Bob Duffin to organize and coordinate mailing to
many organizations requesting participation in the April Community Service
Month forum.
· Meeting with YAC member regarding development of potential Eagle Scout
project.
Loss Control Proqram and Executive Safety Committee:
· Facilitated Executive Safety Committee meeting.
· Correspondence to Workmen's Compensation Provider, Wright
regarding implementation of their recommendations for
assessment of the Assessors' office.
Risk Mgt.

Community Development:
· Two meetings with Sarah Benjamin of CAST to discuss Family Support of
Long Island initiative and hosting quarterly human service meetings.
· Meeting with Supervisor, Lloyd Reisenberg and Mike Verity regarding
upcoming Community Development Block Grant funding assistance to
residents whose property was impacted by Superstorm Sandy.
Comprehensive Plan:
· Attended team meeting to review and incorporate comments from the public
regarding Natural Resources chapter (Water Resources.)
· Attended two meetings with the public at Peconic Lane Community Center to
discuss proposed chapter Natural Resources (Land Resources.)
· Meeting with Heather Lanza to discuss development of outline for upcoming
Emergency Preparedness chapter.
Economic Development:
· Prepared agenda and minutes of March 8th subcommittee planning meeting
and March 28th Economic Development Committee quarterly meeting with
business leaders.
Other:
· Assistance with preparation/coordination of Supervisor's State of the Town
address.
· Prepared March Suffolk Times Community Notices advertisement.
· Meeting with Mary Eisenstein (Melmar Enterprises) to discuss development of
community service opportunities for court mediation as approved by Judge
Price.
· Continue to monitor and address constituent requests on the Town's website
"How Do I" feature (two requests in March.)
· With Supervisor and Lloyd Reisenberg, attended Suffolk County Supervisors'
Association meeting.
· Meeting with National Disaster Recovery Framework to develop action plan
and articulate needs regarding potential disaster preparedness and
mitigation. Discussion with Town Board to adopt resolution of partnership.
· Additional meeting with representatives from schools and designees of Youth
Bureau and Renewable Alternative Energy Committee to discuss
implementation of recycling in schools and other environmental issues.
