I am responding to Pat's and Mr. Catapano's request to remove all vegetation from his bluff due to storm damage and the concern that the vegetation on the bluff had died. After going out to look at the vegetation at the site, the Trustees agreed that at this time Mr. Catapano and his contractor can ONLY create an access path/road to rebuild the bulkhead which would entail having to remove only one to two trees beginning the access at the southerly side of the property. Currently, the trees look salt burned and not dead to which the Trustees want them to remain. In the fall of 2013 if any/all of the vegetation has died, Pat/Mr. Catapano can again request to remove and re-vegetate the area. Thanks and have a HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! I would like to remove them prior to the Jan 4 town dump deadline for free disposal of Sandy debris. Do I need approval from the town? Can I just remove them and justify it with these pictures? I will replant with suitable shore plantings. Michael Catapano Copyright © 2003-2012. Attached are some photos of the embankment and his email to Pat Moore. He is requesting permission to remove all of the trees/shrubs on his embankment for 2 reasons: one-Pat Moore stated the contractor needs to access the bulkhead replacement via the embankment for the entire project and; two-all of the trees are presumed dead/dying due to salt spray/storm damage. Can he remove all and re-vegetate upon completion of new bulkhead and other structures? Please advise A.S.A.P. as if allowed, they are trying to beat the Jan.4 deadline of free debris at town dump.
