Southold Town Clerk
Called to Order 10:05 AM by Chairman Neb Brashich.
Members Present:
Frank Field, Town Engineer Jamie Richter, Chief Martin Flatley, Margaret Brown, Councilman
Chris Talbot and Tom Fox.
Minutes of November 26, 2012
After an observation by Jamie Richter concerning changes to "No Parking' signage on Mill
Lane, a motion to approve the minutes was made, seconded and carried.
East End Transportation Council
Neb reported that there was no October meeting.
December 12� meeting
LIRR
The railroad is planning to purchase four sets of locomotives and two cars each to be used for
East End shuttle service. Three sets will reportedly run in service, with the third set held in
reserve at the Hillside Facility. Service is expected to commence in 2019.
It is understood that bicycle rentals will be available at LIRR stations.
DOT Funding Options
Detailed damage inspection reports will be required for storm-related road repairs. It is
understood that FEMA will cover road repair items on a to be determined basis.
Bolt Bus
Service has commenced from Riverhead and Ronkonkoma to NYC with fares as low as $1.00.
Peconic Jitney Water Taxi
It was reported that the service may not operate in 2013 as it failed to return a profit from its
2012 operation. 300 passengers per day were required for profitable operation whereas only
about 200 passengers used the service on a daily basis in 2012. In addition, due to operating
problems with the vessel, the service was interrupted for a total of days 9 days and busses were
substituted to maintain the service. More government funding would be required for operations
to continue.
Safe Route to Schools
Eligibility for this program, which includes sidewalk improvements, handicapped-accessible
curbing and other measures, is limited to municipalities and applications are due by October 5,
2013.

Planning Board Requests
Town Comprehensive Plan
Issuance of the Transportation Chapter has been delayed until January 2013. The entire plan is
expected to be ready by mid-2013.
Current Transportation Issues
Southold/Greenport Bus Shelters
Neb reported that shelters for Greenport and Southold remain on SCDPW's schedule and
further action is awaited.
Councilman Talbot reported that the Mattituck Lions Club is willing to donate $20,000 toward the
placement of a bus shelter in Cutchogue at a location in the Town's option. He will follow-up
concerning that issue.
Orientation / Interpretive Signage Project
Neb reported that the RBA Group had submitted a draft of the photos and verbiage for the three
interpretative signs and continues to work on the same items for the four kiosks. $90,000 in
federal funding and the unused $20,000 remaining from the cancelled Orient Causeway Utilities
Project are available for use on the signage project.
Old Business
Stop Sign Request- Bay Water Avenue & Main Bayview Road Southold
Replacement of the current Yield Sign at location is under consideration
Reducing No Parking Signage on Mill Lane Peconic
That issue remains with the Town Board for further action.
New Business
None.
Next Meeting
The next meeting will take place on January 2, 2013 at 10:00 AM in the conference room at
Town Hall.
