HomeMy WebLinkAboutOld Cove Blvd RECEIVED Southold Town Clerk, AN 28 Town Hall 53095 Main Road, P.O.Box 1179 Southold, NY 11971 Southold Town perk Attention: Southold Town Board and Southold Planning Board RE: Proposed 2 home sub-division "Old Cove Blvd" Southold (Nickart Realty) August 8, 2012 To Whom It May Concern: We are writing this letter to voice our concerns regarding the above noted subdivision application for 2 new homes on Old Cove Rd. near Beverly Rd and Middle Rd. (C.R 48) in Southold. We were notified of the application for this sub-division when it first was to go before the Town Board. We elected not to attend the hearing because we felt that since we had no opposition to the construction of two new homes at that location, then there was no purpose in attending the hearing. Unfortunately it never occurred to us to attend the hearing for the purpose of voicing our approval of this proposed project. We were not aware of any neighbors who objected to the homes and so we thought if there were no objections that it would pass. We recently have learned that the Town is blocking the project and we are very disappointed in hearing this.... for the following reasons. The property as it exists now, and has existed for some time, is a serious eye sore. It is overgrown and unsightly, has become a dumping ground for rubbish, and is tick invested. Furthermore most of the plots near the proposed subdivision are already occupied with homes on plots much smaller than the ones the builder proposes here. We feel that two new homes would be a huge asset and improvement to the area. In addition it is our understanding that the builder agreed to repair and improve the road adjoining the proposed homes which is in a great state of disrepair. Finally, as a bonus to the improvement that these two new homes would have on this area, the real estate taxes these two new homes would generate would be a great help to the Town, especially in these tough times. We do not understand why the construction of these two homes is being blocked by the town. Please reconsider the decision to block the project since its approval would be an asset to the neighborhood and the town. Very Truly Yours, WL i - .
