Subject: [SPAM] - Stop Sign for Dangerous Road for Students
Dear Ms. Neville,
My name is Nicole Rignola and I work for Southold Schools in the Transportation Department. We have
received numerous complaints from parents and our school bus drivers that certain roads in the area are
unsafe, even to the extent of other drivers not stopping for the school buses when they are stop with their
warning lights on. One of the major complaints in the area is on Main Bayview Road where it intersects with
Jacobs. The bus has to make a sharp turn here and basically in order to do that needs to pull into the
intersection in order to see. This is not safe. If we were to re-route this bus, the children on the route would
then have to cross Main Bayview to get on and off the bus, which is not safe either. My question is, what is
required to have a stop sign put up at that intersection? It would be a three way stop, which would be safer
for all drivers. There is a similar situation up the road with another side street. Putting one or two stop signs
on that road would make the road safer for everyone. It would also slow some of the speeding traffic down a
bit. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
