Briefly, the Planning Board was asking for a site plan that was not in the best interests of future good planning decisions regarding the development of Pike Street and the Love Lane Historical District. This is based upon Town Board previous decisions, which were in the newspapers. We disagreed for months and finally after giving may many give backs, we decided to agree to all of their demands because we would like to sell the property now with the approvals, although we still think it is bad planning from the Planning Board and their staff. We have given up being concerned as to the future of the historic Love Lane area. We followed their ideas and gave them what the Town Board was looking for, as per previous newspaper articles regarding this issue. The newest site plan, which we have submitted on November 13, 2012, contains all requests of the Planning Board and staff. I called Brian Cummings a few days later to see if he received it and left a message on his answering machine. I never got an answer back from him. It had been more than a reasonable amount of time but still no response. I waited over a week and called Brian Cummings again and his phone was not working; on November 27th I called and spoke to one of his secretaries who said she would personally give him the message and tell him to call me back. Still no return phone call. After another couple of weeks I called again and spoke to a different secretary and she told me he's way down the hall and will personally give him the message to call me back. He never did call me back. It's now been another 2 weeks later with no response from Brian or any other member of the Planning Board staff or Heather. Having so many years of experience, I understand the Planning Board staff needs some professional personal and not just having "on the job training". Sometimes some Board members make a mistake, but that's government and I could live with it as long as the rest don't go along with it and make their own independent decisions. There must be a good understanding of planning, which seems to be lacking in this instance. For over 50 years I personally have appeared before all types of Boards, Town, ZBA and Planning with all types of different personalities and expertise. One thing they do have in common tough is they are open minded, ry to do the best possible job and are not negative. They are always trying to help their community and constituents. Negative people do not belong on any Boards, especially on a Planning Board without vision; this creates a situation where it can hurt the Town of Southold. Unfortunately I am in now here in front of his type of Board with the staff getting on the job training at my expense. I deserve to have my site plan approved as it is exactly what the Planning Board required. Not to mention all the disrespect I have received from not answering my phone calls and letters. There is no excuse for this kind of treatment of anyone and for the length of time this has been going on. This situation is also denying the Town of Southold the additional tax revenues and the improvement of the Love Lane Historic Area, which will not only benefit the Town but all the other merchants in the area. The Planning Board is an advisory board and must have guidance, I spoke to Southold Supervisor Scott Russell and he did not want to speak to the Planning Board to convey to them what the Town was looking for in the area of future growth and town planning for the historic district. How can the Town function without leadership? Please try and straighten this mess out, this has been going on for over three years now. Cummings, Planner P O Box 1 179 Southold, NY 11971 RE: 615 Pike Street, Mattituck, NY 1000-140-02-20 Dear Mr. Cummings: Please find revisions as per your letter of April 27, 2012 and our meeting as of October 21 , 2012. We did not deviate at all. Although I still must object to the nearsightedness of some of the Planning Board Members. They have no vision for further development. They have overlooked the Hardware Store and a gym with no building permits or planning approvals. Also the Zzar building with no permits or Planning Approvals for his studio that opened this past year. And yet you have given me a violation for a tree I took down, which was where our proposed building is to be built. Enough sour grapes: This building was approved at previous Planning Board Meetings. I know the Board request has been fulfilled. I expect to receive an OK in order for me to obtain a building permit. Respectfully, Edward Buri anaging Me ber
