COLUMNS USED IN MORTON BUILDINGS ARE PRESSURE TREATED FOR INSTALLATION BELOW GRADE TO A
RETENTION OF 0.8 FOUNDS PER CUBIC FOOT WITH CHROMATED COPPER ARSENATE TYFE III, OXIDE IN
CONFORMANCE WITH USEPA GUIDELINES AND AWPA STANDARD C28. THE TREATED FORTION OF THE
COLUMN EMBEDDED IN GROUND SHALL BE LAMINATED WITH STAINLESS STEEL NAILS.
FOOTINGS AND ANCHORAGE - COLUMN HOLES ARE DUG A MINIMUM DEPTH OF 4'-8" BELOW GRADE
(SEE PLANS FOR DIAMETER AND DEPTH). COLUMNS WITH GALVANIZED SUPPORT STILTS ARE PLACED IN
THE HOLE, CONCRETE (MINIMUM COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH 2500 PSI) IS FOURED IN PLACE TO THE
SPECIFIED THICKNESS (SEE PLANS FOR REQUIRED THICKNESS ABOVE AND BELOW THE COLUMN). THE
COLUMN iS THEN BACKFILLED WITH SOIL AND COMPACTED AT 8" iNTERVALS OR BACKFILLED WiTH
CONCRETE (SEE PLANS).
