YB Present: Megan Demarest, Jeff Standish, Costa Kokkinos, Andrea Nydegger, Cristina
Witzke,, Robert Duffin,, Elaine White, Councilman Bill Ruland and Phillip Beltz. Absent: Jacob
Branker, Sydney Campbell, Tom Rabbitt, Irene Tsontakis-Bradley, Karen McLaughlin Officer Bill
Brewer, Dan Durett, Jillian Ruroede and Supervisor Scott Russell.
Approval of Minutes of October 15, 2012
Youth Advisory Council (YAC) Recruitment: YAC recruitment was a major
success with many new members attending the October 15th meeting. Elaine
suggested that Phillip send school representatives a list of current YAC members.
Town of Southold Youth Survey for Community Activities: Awaiting results
from YAC who are distributing surveys at respective schools.
Environmental Initiative: Costa reported of meeting with Superintendents of
Mattituck and Southold to discuss implementing environmental initiatives in
schools. At the meeting, Supervisor Russell reiterated the importance of schools
adhering to the Town's waste management plan that includes mandatory
recycling. Megan noted that Greenport does recycle paper. Schools will solicit
designees from each school for a future meeting in January 2013 to discuss
implementation of initiatives that will ideally be a part of student's course of study.
Shared Parks, Fields and Recreational Facilities: Phillip reported that Mattituck
and Southold Superintendents and Athletic Directors are working with the Town to
further coordinate the use of facilities to maximize recreational opportunities.
Resource Directory: Irene reported via email that she is near completion- Phillip
provided several attachments (welcome from Supervisor, current YB and YAC
membership, etc.) Elaine and Crissy volunteered to assist Irene in any capacity.
Community Service Day: Tabled-will be further discussed at the next meeting
and added to 2013 goals and objectives..

Next Meeting Date: Thursday, December '/3 at 5:00 p.m. at Peconic Lane
Community Center (next to Recreation Center in Peconic).
