HomeMy WebLinkAbout10/2012Department of Public Works Monthly Report Date: October 2012 · On going trail maintenance at Laurel Lake, Downs Farm, Arshamomaque, Arshamomaque Pond, Dam Pond and Mill Road Preserves. Removed trees damaged by Hurricane Sandy. · Installed a wooden bridge over a stream at Sound View Dunes (Bittner), as part of a grant from NYSDOS. · Maintenance and repairs to the Deer Truck. · Reviewed the bids received for the demolition and debris removal at Manor Grove. · Pre-demolition site inspection and walk through with Gatz Landscaping, Michael Collins and Laura Klahre, prior to demolition of the buildings and debris removal at the Manor Grove property. · Trimmed and removed limbs on trees at Town Hall. · Attended a Department Meeting with the Supervisor. · Painted and repaired the Men's Room (west) at Town Hall. · Replaced damaged asphalt shingles at the Highway Department. · Installed a new pull down screen and purchased a portable sound system and projector at the Peconic Community Center with funds donated by the estate of Alma Suter. · Replaced water damaged tiles in the Building Department. · Repaired swings at Tasker Park. · Installed irrigation system at the Osprey/Fire Memorial at Cochran Park. · Repaired toilets at Tasker Park and Greenport Information Booth. · Removed wires at Manor Grove, in preparation for the demolition of the sheds, barn and house. · Preparation of buildings and property in preparation of Hurricane Sandy. · Monitored the work being done by the SCWA in reference to seeding and grading the area disturbed by the SCWA in the installation of a water main in the Laurel Lake Preserve. · Attended a Parks & Playground meeting to discuss the handicapped playground at Tasker Park and ordered the playground equipment. · The DPW & Highway staff replaced the roof on the Southold Highway Department Barn. Doing the work in-house saved over $35,000. · Prepared bid specifications for stone, as part of the Goldsmith Jetty Armoring Project. · Modified the Town Beach and Goldsmith Inlet Dredging Permits with NYSDEC to allow minor changes to the projects.
