LAND PRESERVATION COMMITTEE MEETING
MONDAY, FEBRUARY 12, 2001 at 7:30 P.M.

MINUTES
Present were: Dick Ryan, Ray Blum, Bill Edwards, Fred Lee, Melissa Spiro,
Craig Turner, Marian Sumner, Paul Matthews and friend, Cher.
Melissa Spiro gave a brief history of the Paul Matthews property. About
ten years ago he put in for a major subdivision, which never received
final approval. He now has put in an application to the Land Preservation
Committee for about 10 acres. Mr. Matthews gave the Committee his ex-
planation of what his possible plans are. The water quality on this property
is quite an issue.
Melissa spoke to the Committee about an inquiry she received from Peter Burr
re: property on Fishers Island. The property is owned by Carolyn Doherty.
Melissa will contact the Dohertys.
Aurichio application - Pat Given will be doing the appraisal on this property.
Melissa sent him an authorization for the appraisal.
Melissa had an inquiry about property on Queen Street in Greenport. It is
adjacent to Moores Woods. It is owned by Linda Ruroede. Melissa will follow
up with her and also speak to Tim Caufield.
Melissa and Ray Blum went to the County meeting. They seem to be anxious
to work with the landowners. Ray mentioned that they are going to increase
their meetings to either every month or every other month. Melissa and
Marian will be meeting with Jim Burke on Wednesday and look at properties
in East Marion.
Status of Applications:
Cullinane - 19-1-1.2 - Ms. Cullinane closed with the Youngs today. She
was the (~ontract vendee.
Blum - 75-5-1 - Contract sent to applicant on February 1, 2001.
Schreiber- 95-1-4 - Melissa will arrange for a public hearing with the Town Board.
Starkie - 96 -3-2 - Contract has been mailed out. Melissa met with Mr. Starkie
to discuss reserved area.
Goerler - 96-3-2 - Closing date should be soon.
Jenkins - 102-2-2.3 - Will be closing soon.
McGunni~lle - 106-6-14 - Received endorsement of offer 2/9/01. Melissa will
make arrangements for public hearing.
Pollio - 108-1-1.1 - County made offer. They are awaiting a response.
Elak - 115-8-3.1 - Still on hold.
SYec, 97-2-9.1 . Application was received. Owner recently got out of
hospital. He will call Melissa, when he is interested in pursuing.
Non. Applications:
Betty Rose - 22-3-23.2, 34 - Peconic Land Trust is working with property
owner.
Boyle - 18-2-33 & 34 - Pat Moore is representing the owner and will come to
the next meeting of the Land Preservation Committee.
At 9:30 p.m. the Committee went into Executive Session to discuss the Manor
Grove appraisal. A motion was made by Fred Lee and seconded by Ray Blum
to make an offer. All were in favor.
The next meeting of the Land Preservation Committee is scheduled for Monday,
March 5, 2001 at 7:30 p.m.
With no further business to be discussed, the meeting was adjourned at 10:15 p.m.
