Box 1179 Southold, New York 11971 Fax (516) 765-1823 Telephone (516) 765-1800 JAN 1 8 2000 MINUTES Present were: Dick Ryan, Joe Krukowski, Reed Jarvis, Fred Lee, Ray Huntington, Brian Murphy, Melissa Spiro and Tim Caufield. The Minutes of the December 20, 1999 meeting were accepted as read. The Committee reviewed the maps Melissa had brought to the meeting. Melissa explained that it is a working map and asked the Committee to review the map and make any needed corrections. Maps will be made for each of the members. Tim Caufield brought in a digitized map of the northwestern part of the Town. This segment is approximately 1000 acres with three owners. It was suggested that this would be a good area to solicit the develop- ment rights. The members asked Councilman Murphy about the Farmland Protection Strategy Report. He said hoPefully it would be adopted shortly. Dick distributed the Suffolk County Tax Map books to the members present and will give the absent members their copies at the next meeting. There is a meeting tomorrow with Supervisor Cochran, Councilman Murphy, Melissa Spiro and Stephen Jones. They are hoping for some coordination between the Town and the County. -2- The Town will be receiving approximately $500,000 in grants for development rights purchases from the State. The Committee discussed surveys and who should pay for it. They felt that if it is a clear development rights purchase without, any reserved areas, the Town should pay for it. If there are reserved areas, it should be pro-rated. Ray brought in maps of segments of the Town. Dick is taking A, B, G & H. Reed is taking C. Joe is taking F. Ray has D and Fred The next meeting is scheduled for Monday, January 24, 2000 at 7:30 p.m. Tim Caufield spoke on the Peconic Land Trust's agenda and gave a copy of it to the members of tile Committee. With no further business to be conducted, the meeting was adjourned at 9:45 p.m. submitted,
