Box 1179 Southold, New York 11971-0959 Fax (631) 765-1823 Telephone (631) 765-1889 OFFICE OF THE SUPERVISOR TOWN OF SOUTHOLD Economic Development Committee Meeting Minutes August 16, 2012 Present: John Stype, Steve Latham, Donielle Cardinale, Linton Duell, lan Wile and Phillip Beltz. Excused/Absent: Amy Maguire Burns, Rona Smith, Tony Cocheo, Carolyn Fahey, Councilman Bill Ruland and Supervisor Scott Russell. Meeting began at 3:05 p.m. Business Liaison Update: · Survey for department heads is being developed and will be shared at the next meeting. Listeninq Tour Recap: · Meeting with real estate community was well-received, 10 realtors attended who provided constructive comments. · Fishers Island meeting-John discussed the EDC at the annual Fishers Island Town Board meeting and there will be an additional meeting with businesses in the fall. · Library meetings, no one attended the Southold meeting, Greenport and Mattituck meetings to be held later. · Additional meetings for targeted industries-builders and contractors, restaurants, small businesses working from home. Possibly schedule in September and October. Survey Results: · lan provided preliminary findings of the 53 surveys. We should get more input before final analysis and meeting with Town Board with recommendations. Meetings at local libraries may stimulate greater responses, lan suggested soliciting responses from agriculture community. Phillip will forward to Heather to send to her distribution list. Suffolk County Industrial Commercial Incentive Plan: The Supervisor requested that several EDC members meet with Mattituck and Southold school superintendents and board members to request that they "opt in" for the plan. John stated he will attend and other EDC may attend as available. Phillip will schedule ASAP. Identifyin,q Themes, Concerns and Makin,q Recommendations to Town Board: The next meeting will be primarily devoted to identifying major themes and solutions from survey data and comments and concerns presented at Listening Tour meetings. Everyone should be prepared to present a few ideas that will be further prioritized by EDC. Workshops and Seminars: Carolyn is planning seminars for October. The meeting concluded at 4:20 p.m. Next Meetinq Date/Time: EDC will meet Wednesday, September '19th at 2:30 p.m. in the Annex. Respectfully submitted, Phillip Beltz
