MINUTES
Present were: Dick Ryan, Reed Jarvis, .Joe Krukowski, Fred Lee,
Ray Huntington, Noreen McKenna, Melissa Spiro and Gail Wickham.
The Town Board has created the position of Land Preservation
Coordinator, which Melissa Spiro will be appointed to.
Dick said that another grant application must be in by August 31st.
Dick asked the members if there were any prime pieces of farmland,
to let him know. Melissa will work with Dick on this list.
Suffolk County Greenways - Greg Yakaboski and Melissa Sprio went
to a meeting in the County, which was called by Hoot Sherman from
Peconic Land Trust. They discussed the 70%-30% partnership. Greg
will be meeting with the other attorneys who attended. The County is
looking for a list of projects we are ready to move on. In the hopper
are Goerler, Doroski, Sepenoski and McGunnigle. McGunnigle has
signed a contract with the Peconic Land Trust.
2% Tax Exemption issue - the Town Board is awaiting something from
the Land Preservation Committee regarding recommendations on the
2% tax. Melissa, Dick and Brian will meet with Jean Cochran tomorrow
for catch up. The members discussed setting up a sub-committee to
work on this. The sub-committee will be comprised of Melissa, Ray,
Dick and Brian. If anyone has any suggestions, they could come to
the sub-committee.

Melissa spoke to Gall Wickham about the two pieces of property that
her father owns on the North Road, as the Committee is interested
in them. Gail said she will speak to her father.
Reed Jarvis will contact Sidor, Goerler and Jenkins to see if there is
anything we can do to help them. Goerler has to finish the paper
work with the Planning Board. We are waiting for a survey from
Bob Jenkins.
Schreiber - Marian Sumner said he is ready to go.
Levin - is a County partnership that Greg is working on.
Sutermeister - Syma Gerard has received an offer of $375,000. She has
asked that we proceed with the appraisal.
Midgley - Ray Huntington went to see Bill Midgley. He is offering the
lots to the Town for $35,000 each. Ray mentioned about donating them
to the Town. He doesn't seem to be interested in gifting it to the Town.
Ray will speak with him again.
Watts property - he responded to our brochure. Development is severely
restricted, as he can only put on one house.
Dick asked the members of the Committee if they would like to go to
Fishers Island for the Town Board meeting on August 9th. Reed Jarvis,
Joe Krukowski, Ray Huntington and Dick will go.
The next meeting of the Land Preservation Committee is scheduled for
Monday, August 7, 2000.
With no further business to be conducted, the meeting was adjourned at
9:50 p.m.
