Subject: Allegation of ddnking and ddving problem in Southold
On October 26 Newsday published an editorial endorsing Scott Russell for Supervisor. In that
editorial Newsday twice referred to problems of loud parties and drunken driving following wine
tastings at Soulhold vineyards.
The Committee reviewed data presented by Chief Flatley regarding DWI/DUI arrests for the last
three years. There is no evidence lhat arrests have risen significantly over the period. In fact, to
date there appears to be a slight reduction this year. But, there is evidence that the second and
third quarters (heavy tourist traffic??) am the worst periods for DWI/DUI arrests.
