Protect and improve water quality and supply in the Town of Southold. See LWRP Section III - Policies Pages 16 through 21 for evaluation criteria ~ Yes ~] No [~ Not Applicable The removal of die existing sanitary system located less than 75' fi.om wetlands in favor of an upgraded system located almost 150' fi-om wetlands and out of Chapter 275 jurisdiction will improve the quality of groundwater adjacent to James Creek and ultimately the quality of the James Creek surface waters and thus the quality and function of the tidal wetlands and James Creek ecosystems, making this project component consistent with both Policies 5 and 6. The proposed pervious gravel driveway extansion located no closer than 50 feet fi'om wetlands is defined by Section 268-3 as a "minor action" not subject to water consistency review (i.e., "DD. Construction or improvements of pervious residential driveways, parking areas or walkways greater than 50 feet fi.om a tidal or freshwater wetland."); and the conversion of the existing asphalt driveway to pervious gravel within 50' of wetlands will have beneficial impacts on water quality and the adjacent wetlands ecosystem due to the associated decrease in surface water runoff, thus making this project component also consistent with Policies 5 & 6.
