HomeMy WebLinkAbout07/2012August 03, 2012 To: Town Board Fr: Phillip Beltz Re: JULY 2012 SUMMARY REPORT-SPECIAL PROJECTS COORDINATOR Housinq: · Facilitated Housing Advisory Commission (HAC) meeting and disseminated minutes. · Continue to assist with resale of two units at the Cottages at Mattituck. · With Supervisor, HAC member Dan Sarnowski, Heather Lanza and Mark Terry, meeting to discuss development of RFP for affordable apartments. · Began preparation of RFP. Youth Bureau: · Facilitated Youth Bureau Board meeting and disseminated minutes. · Prepared preliminary 2013 Youth Bureau budget. · Provided orientation for students participating in Suffolk County Department of Labor "Summer Works" program. Meeting with students and Dept. of Labor representative for follow-up program evaluation. · Conference call discussion with the NYS Office for Children and Family Services regarding 2012 Youth Bureau narrative. Loss Control Proqram and Executive Safety Committee: · Meeting with National Employee Assistance Program representative for preparation of annual Workplace Violence Prevention training. Coordinated training with Wright Risk Management for Bloodborne pathogens training. Disseminated memorandum to staff regarding mandatory training opportunities in August. Community Development: · Prepared preliminary 2013 Community Development budget. Comprehensive Plan: · Two team meetings, one in preparation of draft of Human Services chapter for discussion with Town Board. Other to prepare draft chapter for dissemination to the public with assistance of Comp Plan Team and Karen McLaughlin. · Prepared PowerPoint presentation of Human Services chapter. · Facilitated two public meetings in the month of July. Economic Development: · Prepared agenda and disseminated minutes of the July 12th meeting of the Economic Development Committee (EDC.) · With Supervisor and John Stype, attended meeting at Stony Brook Small Business Development Center that included discussion with Joanne Minieri. She is the newly appointed Suffolk County Deputy Executive for Economic Development and Commissioner of Economic Development and Planning. · Preparation for EDC "listening tours" at local libraries to discuss concerns of local businesses. Coordinated additional meeting with realtors at Peconic Lane Community Center on August 9th. Other: · Meeting of the website development committee to finalize content of Civic Plus website. · With Supervisor, meeting with staff of Family Residences and Essential Enterprises (FREE) regarding financial assistance for rehabilitation of their group home residence and possible utilization of community development funding.
