Box 1179 Southold, New York 11971 Fax (516) 765-1823 Telephone (516) 765-1800 LAND PRESERVATION COM1VIXI'I'EE TOWN OF SOUTHOLD LAND PRESERVATION COMMITTEE MEETING MONDAY, AUGUST 21, 2000 AT 7:30 P.M. MINUTES Present were: Dick Ryan, Ray Huntington, Melissa Spiro, Marian Sumner, & Kevin Collins (boy scout). Reed Jarvis, Noreen McKenna, Ron Goerler, Sr., John Sidor Goerler property - they do not want a partnership with the County. Their map needs a few minor changes. John Siclor spoke to the Committee. He had to have a test well and now he needs a soil test. The Health Department seems to be holding things up. He was hoping that the Committee could help to speed up the process. The Committee told him that his at-~orney should be handling this for him. Marian Sumner said she will provide the members with charts that people can follow the process. Reed and Ray will work on these charts. Gift of Open Space - Fred parcel - right next to the Sea Shell Restaurant. It has a view of Budd's Pond. It is 1/3 of an acre. Marian will try to get a survey map. A motion was made by Noreen McKenna and seconded by Reed Jarvis to recommend to the Town Board the acceptance of this donation. All were in favor. Bob Jenkins property - Tax Map #1000-102-2-2.3. The Committee received an application from Bob Jenkins and his wife for this property located on Depot Lane in Cutchogue. It is approximately 17 acres. Reedwill check with Mr. Jenkins to see if he has a survey map of the property. Suffolk County Greenways Program - they will come to talk to the Town sometime after Labor Day. It probably will be during a work session of the Town Boarcl. Melissa will make the arrangements for this. -2- Ag and Markets Grant Application - Melissa and Dick have been working on this. On the list is: Doroski, Shcreiber, Martin Sidor, Cullinane, Ray Blum, Jenkins, Scott, Starkie and Deerkoski properties. On August 16th a meeting was held at Town Hall to discuss the 2% transfer tax. Present were: Joe Gergela, Gail Wickham, Gary Olsen, Dick Ryan, Ray Huntington, Melissa Spiro and Marian Sumner. Dick and Melissa will bring the Committee's recommendations to the next Town Board meeting. Dick just received copies of the appraisal on the Doroski property. Reed will go to Bob Jenkins with an offer. We have a survey map that can be refined. Dick will send a letter to the Doroskis. The next meeting of the Land Preservation Committee is scheduled for Monday, September 11, 2000.
