SPECIAL ~ETING OF PLANNING B~ARD AND TOWN' BOARD
Aug~ust 5, .1969
A special meeting of 'the Planning Bo.~d and Town BOard
was held Tuesday 'afternoon on August 5~,1 1969.
There were present': Messrs= John:'Wickham~ Henry
Alfred Grebe.
' Councilma~ Valentine°
Building Inspeetore H=ward~Terry; and William B~arron
from Raymond~.! ~ay~! -Parish~ & -Pine.

Planning ~oard and Town Board
Bill Barton .presented the Boards with a preliminary ~opy
of the revised Master Plan Map ~or their 'approval. The ~egend
was carefully checked over. tit showed three ~3) residential
classes of zoning: agricultural~ low densityw~ & 'suburban
density; one ~(1) class of industlrial zoning~ it was suggested
that we could separate the ligAt and heavy industry on our
zoning map; motels and multi-family residences were combined
and classified as resorts; parks and open spaces were combined;
public use class~-i~ication includes schools~ firehouses~ and
any 'other building used by the public~
The 'Planning .Board compared ~heir rough ~map with Raymond~
May~ Parish & Pine's,
Bill Barton informed us .that some of the parks are only
approximate locations. The present-airports at Mattituck and
Orient have been left off. 'Fishers Island airport is shown~
· A discussion-was held on the-number of publications to
be ordered~ The original figure was 1~.~000. Bill Barton
promised to get us ~asmany extra as possibles: approximately
1,~500, John Wickham expressed his thought that' the demand
may not be too great-at present but they will be useful in
the years to come.
The matter of a new zoning map was brought up, John
Wickham stated that it would not be practical to make up
a- new zoning map until we make a new zoning ordinance or
completely revise ,the old one.
A discussion ~as held on informing the public of the
Master--Plan, It is not necessary to hold a public hearing
and formally 'adopt the pla~. ',Public Inform~ation Meetin_q~s"
will -be conducted 'by the Planning Board~ -Three meetings
will be s~heduled: one in ~Southold~ one in Mat~ituck~, and
one in Fishers Island~ After these meetings the Town B~ard
will announce that the Master 'Plan has been put into effect
by resolution.
John-Wickham suggested that the meeting in. Southold
should be held the Friday before Labor Day ';~ugust 29)
to m~ke it fair for the summer people~
'F~& Terry called'~Southold High School to make arrange-
ments to hold a meeting in the school. He informed them
that we ~expect approximately'200 people, Mri' WSlliams
-called back to confirm .that August 29th will be all right~
he is to send us. the-official forms to be signed and
returned~ Arrangements to be made for Mattituck High
School. Mr, Grebe '.will make~ arrangements for FiShers

John Wickham informed everyone that they must return
'Book II so that-the inserts may be added.
