June ?~ 1960 at the Town .Clerk Office~ Main Road~ Southold~ New York. There were present: ~essrs. John Wick~am~. Ch~irmar~ Henry Moisa~ Alfred Gre~e~ Archibald Young, and William unkelbach~ Also present: Messrs. Howard M. Terry. Building Inspector and Otto W. Van Tuyl~ Consultant. Mr..Joseph Deerkoski~ North Road~ Mattit~ck. New York appeare.~ ~efore the Planning Board for a brief discussio~ relative to his proposed subdivision on the sottth side of Westphalia R~d~ ~attituck. to be known as- Deer Park. Hr. Van Tuy! stated 'that the water was approwed' by ~he ~ealth Del~rh~ent verbally on June 6th~ And all t~at is left for the Health Department to do is put tkeir st~mp of approval on the-final plans. The Superintendent of Highways has given his verbal approval to Hr. Wickham on the road layout and he will give final approval as soon as the completed profiles SoutholdTown Planning Board --2-- June 7~ 1960 are submitted to him. A/'her further discussion relative to drainage patterns Mr. DeerkoSki advised he would fil, e his application for final approval of his subdivision before the next meeting of the Planning Board so that it might be scheduled for a public hearing as soon as possible, The Planning. Board received a letter from the Town Board tran~nitting t~e orig4~n.al petition of Mary Doroski and ~heo~ore Doroski~ Cutchogue, New York instructing the Planning Board to prepare an official report defining the con~itions described in the ~etition and determine the ar~a so affected with recommendation of the Board~ The po t itlon is for a change of zone ,fJ~om "A" Residential and Agricultural District to Business District on certain real property sit,uated at New York and m~re ~t/cularly bounded and described as follows: Beginning at a point on the northwesterly line of the Main ~oad~ which point is about 535 feet measured sout_hwes~erly along said northwesterly line fromCox~s ~ said point of beginning being-the southwesterly corner of John Pletrowicz and the south- easterly corner of land of Theodore Doroski; ~rom said point of beginning running SouthweSterly along said nortt~westerly line of the Main Road~ 207 feet~ more or less~ to land of Felix DOroski; thence northwesterly along said land of Felix Doroski (being along the existing "B" Business District) and cont/n~ing along land of Mar~ E~roskia 340 feet! thence nor~_heasterly along said land of M~ry Dorosk/~ 185 feet~ more or less~ to land of ~ohn Pietrowicz~ thence southeaste~ along said land of ,John Pietrowi~z~ 340 feet to the point of beginning,. on the petition tb~t the !~ds lying ~ wes~ are already in "B, BuSi~s~s District Lal p~rp~es -- m~ely~_ ~ a ~arage~ the neigkb~rhood in character. The premiSeS ] been used~ in part~ for grading of potatoes .grown on 't~e adJ~ining lands. The owner and tenant desire that same be used hencefort~h for ~rad/ng po~toes commercially~ and wish to. hav~ said business ~perations in compliance with the Zoning Ordinance. After further disculssion~_ on motion of M_r~ M~isa~ seconded by Mr, Grebe and carried~ it was Southold Town ~lan~ing Board --3-- June 7.t 1960 RESOLVED that the Planning BOard recommend to t~he Town Board-that change of zone from "A" Resi~ential and Agricultural District to~B~ Business Dt~trict be made on the aforementioned proporty of Mary D~roski and Theodore Doroski at Cutchogue~ New York. Some of the members of the ~lanning Board are familiar- with 't~e operation. T~ey have been packing po--tatoes for at least one of their ~eighbors fO~ many years pri~r to zoning and for the past two y~ars they have been buying substantial quantities of potatoes. In ad~dition to that we feel that an additional independent outlet for L~ng Island potatoes is probably an asset to the c~unity. Van Tuyl was requested t~ prepare another copy of this map so that the Plan~ing B~ard may transmit it to the T~wa Board. it was RE~L~FED that the Planning Board forward to the ToWn Board a co~y of this proposal with the request that it not be made public as it iS a little pl~mature~_ howevers, that it be kept in their files for future referenee. The ~lanoAng Board feels there should be sufficient access roads from the Expressway when it rea~Ches Riverkead.
