bit. Dennison stated that the Expressway would have marginal
roads on each sides He said that these roads will bring develop-
ment around %be Expressway, He did not feel that it would be
advantageous to have it follow the power lines~ Th~ maY% reason
he had for running t3~e Expressway along the Sound bluff is to open
up waterfront on the Sound and bring people to that area. The
o~inion was expressed by the members present that it would not be
a 9cod idea to run the Expressway along the Sound and expeet develop-
ment becanse the people would not like to settle where there would
be a high--s~eed road in their front or back yards. Hr~ Wickham
stated that he feels ej~e development of waterfront is the most
important consideration, much more important tb~an the d~velopment
of road frontage and it is not his idea to dev~op the Sound bluff
by means of an Expressway, Furthermore the Planning 'Board has
extensiVe plans for the development of Sou~dview Road as a scenic
highway to run from O~ient Point through the entire Town of Southold.
blt, Dennison stated that Ro%fce 25 is not a very good highway
for high--speed traffic, it does not seI-~e and cannot be reasonably
improved because it is so crooked and built~up~ However~ he feels
it is a good scenic route and should continue as such after the
Expressway is extended in~o Southold Town.
In closing this topic Mr, Dennison advised that he f~lt they
could come up with some ~mprom~ ~ossibly with some of the
Expressway along .the bluff and part further. ~u~. How~ver~ he will
be in touch with the Planning Board as s~n as there iS a decision
with relation to Grummans~ There is a q~estion at this time as to
whether the Expre~sway Will go north or south of ~rummans, A
decision on this matter is expected in the immediate ~ture,
A~o~er topic discussed was the mat%er of ~un%y ~mam~as in
