LAND PRESERVATION COMMITTEE MEETIN .(~_
MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 11, 2000 AT 7:30 P.M.
MINUTES
Present were: Dick Ryan, Ray Huntington, Reed Jarvis, Fred Lee,
Joe Krukowski, Melissa Spiro and Marian Sumner.
Schaedel property - Ole Jule Lane, Mattituck - it is both fresh and salt
water wetland. It is for sale for $55,000. Dick suggested that Melissa
contact the owner to see if she is interested in the land preservation
program.
Marian Sumner spoke to the Committee about a lot on Goose Creek in
Southold. The owners might be interested in selling the development
rights to the Town. She will try to get more information.
Simon parcel - 86-1-10.9, Wells Road, Peconic - it is now a sod farm.
He is interested in development rights sale and light development. Marian
will contact the owner and tell him that we are interested and to put in
an application.
Neuer/Sutermeister - according to the appraiser there is only one buildable
lot. A motion was made to Reed Jarvis and seconded by Joe Krukowski to
have Dick make an offer to purchase the entire parcel. All were in favor
except Ray Huntington.
Robert and Joan Jenkins property - located on Depot Lane in Cutchogue
102-2-2.3 - 1 1/2 acres are to be exluded. Approximately 17 acres will have
the development rights sold. Dick gave the Committee copies of the appraisal,
which he just received. After a review of the appraisal by the members, a
motion was made by Reed Jarvis and seconded by Joe Krukowski to have Dick
make an offer to the Jenkins'. All were in favor.

John Sidor - he is still looking for some hlep. Reed and Dick will go
and speak to him.
Schreiber - according to Marian, he is ready to go.
Cullinane - the Committee received written acceptance of the offer.
Survey will be processing. She is holding out 10 acres.
The
Goerler - Greg Yakaboski, the Town Attorney is moving forward on this.
Kowalski (Custer) property has closed.
Doroski - Dick will request the Town Board schedule a public hearing on the
purchase of a development rights easement on this property.
Manor Grove - appraisal is underway.
McGunnigle - appraisal is underway.
Suffolk County Greenways Program - Alan Greco and Jim Burke from the
Suffolk County Dept. of Real Estate will meet with the Town Board on Tuesday,
September 12th.
2% transfer tax - Dick sent a memo to Supervisor Cochran with copies to the
Town Board with the Committee's sucjgestions. To date, there has been no
response to this memo. Also, Joe Gergela sent a letter to the 5 east end
supervisors regarding the 2% tax exemption.
Ray and Reed reviewed tile subdivision process and made a spread sheet,
which was given to the members of the Committee to review and to make
suggestions.
The next meeting of the Southold Town Land Preservation Committee is
scheduled for Monday, September 25, 2000 at 7:30 p.m.
With no further business to be conducted, the meeting was adjourned at
10:00 p.m.
