Monthly Report
Date: June 2012
· On going trail maintenance at Laurel Lake, Downs Farm,
Arshamomaque, Arshamomaque Pond, Dam Pond and Mill Road
Preserves.
· Weekly mowing and maintenance of the sports fields at School House
Park, East Marion, Tasker and Cochran Parks, Peconic Lane
Community Center, Laurel Lake Baseball fields and Strawberry
Fields Fairgrounds.
· Developing plans to mitigate the erosion issues at the end State
Street, Orient with Jamie Richter and Highway Superintendent
Peter Harris.
· Attended a meeting with SCWA in reference to the installation of
public water at the Laurel Information Booth.
· Installed bike rack, trimmed and cleaned trails, installed trail signs
and removed telephone poles that were cut up by LIPA, with Laura
Klahre at Sound View Dunes Park (Bittner).
· Installed 2 handicapped parking spaces at the Cutchogue Parking
Lot (Terp).
· DPW and Highway staff removed debris as part of the beach clean
up program.
· Attended a meeting with the Land Preservation Department in
reference to ongoing trail issues at the Laurel Lake, Dam Pond and
Sound View Dunes Preserves.
· Preparing the Town beaches for opening in June (lifelines, lifeguard
stands, garbage cans, and signs).
· Set up for the Relay for Life program at Cochran Park, June 2na.
· Installed a new electrical outlet for the vending machine at the
Landfill.
· Installed new fire extinguishers at the Highway Department.
· Repaired ceiling tiles at the Recreation Center.
· Fixed grates at the Human Resource Center.
· Replaced the air conditioner motor at the Town Hall.
· Site preparation for the Strawberry Festival.
· Helped the Highway install a pipe and flapper valve for the Budd's
Pond Road Drainage Project.
· Planted donated flowers at Town Hall.
· Attended a job safety workshop (sun safety, blood borne pathogens).
· Repaired a leak in the circulator pump at Town Hall.
· Installed GFI switches at the Southold Collection Center.
· Attended a meeting with the Land Preservation staff at the Manor
Grove site to go over demolition plan and bid documents.
· Painted rails to the basement at Town Hall.
· Attended a meeting with Laura Klahre and Jeff Standish in
reference to the site work and trails at Sound View Dunes (Bittner).
· Replaced fuel containment tank at the Highway Department.
· Attended an Executive Safety Committee Meeting.
· Attended interviews for part-time custodian for DPW.
· Looked at two properties for clean-up under Chapter 100 of the
Town Code and established a file for recording the cost associated
with the clean-up of each site.
