The ~siness People of the Town are greatly interested in advertising in order to properly conduct their activities. For example; it would not be readily possiBle to locate ~3.siness signs ~etween Greenport and Orien~ Point. The Building Inspector au& one o..f the~emoers' of the Bo.amd of Appeals have completed a tour of the major highws~s of the Town end noted the widespresd erection.of b~siness sig~s in areas where they are not permitted under the Ordinance. T~z~nty seven specific instaa~ces were noted. It is our thinking that all signs, with the exception of signs advertising agricultural products, require permits and that these perm_its be issued through the Building specter with ~ metal identification tag, serially numbered, to '~e ~oplied to the sign %y the Building Inspector. ?~e believe ~that the fee for this permit shouz~ %e $~.00 on a sign 3; x 4; (12 square feet or smaller) end a fee of $5.00 /~e required for signs of l~rger dimensions.
