A special meeting of the Southold Town Planning Board was
held June 9, 1977 at ll:00 a.m. at the Fishers Island Union Free
School, Fishers Island, New York.
Present were:
John Wickham, Chairman
Henry E. Raynor, Jr.
Frederick E. Gordon
James Wall
Absent:
Frank S. Coyle
This meeting was held as an informational hearing on the proposed
changes of zone of Henry and Annette Zabahonski.
Mr. Zabahonski stated that there was a housing shortage on
Fishers Island. There was an increase in taxes due to school and
disposal plant costs. There are presently full occupied apart-
ments on Fishers Island. Space is needed for help.
Mr. R. Baker asked to examine the maps and fifteen other people
examined same.
Mr. Raynor explained the two separate applications.
Mr. Pendleton asked if the change was granted, what could be built
and Mr. Raynor explained the light multiple zone restrictions.
Mr. Stanley opposed the application on the basis of density,
traffic and he considers it spot zoning.
Ms. Sarah Russell asked if water and sewage are included in the
study. Mr. Baker said the system won't stand the number of units
proposed and there were questions concerning the capacity of some.
Mr. Raynor said there were water problems in Southold Town.
There was a further discussion on clustering. There were also
questions on the capacity of the Fishers Island Water Company.
There was also discussion on salt water intrusion throughout the

township.
Mr. B. Reid told of available buildings already on the island.
He said many houses have been abandoned.
Mr. K. Jensen asked questions about how long it would be before
a decision would be made and asked if property owners get notices.
There being no further discussion of the matter, Mr. Wall made a
motion, seconded by Mr. Gordon and carried that the meeting be
adjourned. Meeting was adjourned at 12:00 noon.
