I am confirming that the new portions of the Lyon Residence have been designed
for basic wind speed of 120 miles per hour.
The design intent is to construct the two new porch roofs similarly to thc existing
porch roofs to maintain the historic appearance of the wrap-around porches, I
understand that the building inspector may require details to be developed during
construction to address structural hold-downs rated for the 120 MPH wind
exposure. We will provide such details as required by the inspector.
Eagle Windows and Doors will provide windows and exterior doors rated for high
winds and impact resistance for wind-borne debris as required by the Residential
Code of New York where any new window or door unit is shown for the project.

Framing Notes
I. Structural framing sizes for dimmensional
lumber are calculated for No 2 or better
Douglas Fir South used at 19% moisture content,
surfaced dry or green.
Fb extreme fiber bending value of wood
species used shall be 1200 psi or greater.
Modulus of elasticity or wood species used
shall be 1,200, 000 or greater.
Engineered wood products fi-joists, LVL beams,
etc.) shall be provided and installed according
to engineering requirements of manufacturer.
Where required by Code or practicality, provide
detailed layout drawings prepared with manu-
facturer's engineering calculations. All connectors
supports, and fasteners shall be as specifically
required by the manufacturer.
Floor sheathing shall be 3/4" thick T & G
exterior grade plywood or treated OSB such
as J. M. Huber Advantech sheathing. Floor
sheathing shall be glued and nailed to floor
structure.
Exterior wall sheathing shall be 1/2" thick
plywood structural panels. Install panels with
long dimension perpendicular to wall studs.
Nailing shall be in accordance with
New York State Building Code.
2. Floor loads are per New York State
Building Code, and are generally 40 PSF
for main floor level, and 30 PSF for upper
floors.
3. Design snow load is 30 pounds per
square foot with a durational load of two
months
4. Framing layouts are diagrams only.
Final framing layout shall be done in the
field. All connections and layout shall
be in accordance with New York State
Building Code.

subject to damp conditions shall be
