Box 1179 Southold, New York 11971-0959 Fax (631) 765-1823 Telephone (631) 765-1889 OFFICE OF THE SUPERVISOR TOWN OF SOUTHOLD Economic Development Committee Meeting Minutes June 14, 2012 Present: John Stype, Amy Maguire Burns, lan Wile, Carolyn Fahey, Anthony Cocheo, Linton Duell, Councilman Bill Ruland, Supervisor Scott Russell and Phillip Beltz. Excused/Absent: Rona Smith, Steve Latham and Donielle Cardinale. Meeting began at 3:05 p.m. Suffolk County Industrial Commercial Incentive Plan: Heather Lanza presented targeted areas for consideration for the Town's plan to incentivize business development/improvements that was reviewed by the EDC. She will present to the Town Board for their comment. Business Liaison Position: John Stype presented a proposed "Contact Sheet" for meeting with businesses as well as "How To Guide." Committee members are asked to review and provide him with comments and feedback prior to the next meeting for further discussion. It is envisioned that the Guide will be available online on the EDC webpage. Copies will be printed as well with the target date in the fall. Listeninq Tour: · Southold Business Alliance meeting at the Knights of Columbus is scheduled for evening of June 14th, Phillip, Steve, John and Tony will attend. · Meeting with marinas is scheduled for Thursday, June 28th at 7:00 p.m. at the Peconic Lane Community Center. · Additional industries to target (e.g. restaurants) to be discussed at the next meeting. Survey Results: lan reported that he has received several surveys but the data does not support an analysis of results. Hopefully more surveys will be submitted with upcoming meetings. In addition, the Chambers of Commerce should remind its members to take the survey. Frequency of Meetin,qs: Due to inconsistent attendance within the past month, John suggested that the committee meet less frequently. Members agreed to meet monthly. Other: Carolyn suggested that the EDC consider hosting seminars in the fall with resources such as "Financing" and "Developing Business Plans." Next Meetinq Date/Time: EDC will meet Thursday, July 12th at 3 p.m. at the Town Hall Annex conference room. Meeting concluded at 4:35 p.m. Respectfully submitted, Phillip Beltz
