MEETING MINUTES
EAST MARION HAMLET STAKEHOLDERS MEETING WITH THE TOWN
BOARD, April 13, 2005, 6:30pm
Stakeholders Present: Jenny Gould, Kate Sepenowski, Karen McLaughlin, Kevin
Webster, Joe Cheropowich and Perry Angelson.
KeF Stakeholder Recommendations:
· Creation of Village Green in back of Post Office and Fire Department (20 acre
Kortsolokis property) that would also pull traffic and parking off Main Road.
This site was also recognized as appropriate for affordable housing. Density of
affordable housing was not discussed within the group's preliminary findings.
· Accessory apartments (as of right) are encouraged to promote affordable housing.
· Code enforcement of illegal apartments, especially Cozy Cove and Rocky Point
Road
· Pedestrian crossings at Rocky Point and tennis courts
· Control speeding of ferry traffic by not allowing all the cars off the ferry at the
same time (light, etc.)
· Lessen speed on causeway (currently at 55mph)
· Deer management program
· Need more waste receptacles and park benches
· Repair ramp at Bay Avenue
· Noise control necessary at Blue Dolphin
· Allow ag business at Sep's farm
· Create an energy center to diminish reliance on LIPA (harness wind, sun and
water)
Next Steps:
· Supervisor informed stakeholders that the Transportation Committee and
Planning Board would review recommendations and provide feedback to Town
Board and appropriate Town agencies.
