HomeMy WebLinkAbout12/10/2007Minutes of the Hamlet of Greenport Stakeholders meeting Monday, December 10, 2007 5:30 p.m. Peconic Landing, Greenport, N.Y. Attendee Stakeholders: Don Leslie, Jr., Chairman Victor Brown Mariel Dobler, Co-Secretary Jill Dunbar Diane Gilmore Sylvia Holtzberg Melanie Norden, Co-Secretary Peter Russo Ural Talgat Absent: Tanya Padmore Nelia Purnhagen Don Leslie chaired the meeting. The group reviewed and approved the minutes of the 11/26/2007 stakeholders' meeting (with a few corrections). The stakeholders public meeting slated for 1/5/2008 was discussed in detail. Peter Russo, who will chair the meeting, presented a suggested agenda which the group discussed. The following major points were agreed upon regarding the public meeting: · time frame:10:00 a.m. 12:00 p.m. · no refreshments · a Greenport firehouse location was discussed, but Peconic Landing was decided on. · in Peconic Landing auditorium · P. Russo will thank Peconic Landing for their hospitality · That the short term/long range implementation projects will be provided to attendees as a list to be developed by Melanie. · M. Norden will submit that list to Phillip Beltz who will be asked to post it on the Town's website and make copies for the meeting · Other extracts from the stakeholders manual will also be duplicated (Mission Statement, G-1 and G-2), posted on the Town's website and distributed at the public meeting · D. Leslie will call M. Terry and/or John Sep re maps for the meeting, including and updated HALO Zone map (with street identification) · That Melanie will request Phillip Beltz to invite Town officials · Town officials will be asked to RSVP directly to Peter Russo · Large newsprint pads were discussed, as was needing a scribe and hanging those newsprint sheets around the room once completed · The presentation of the information about the 3 color light at Sound Road and the North Road and the safety issues in front of the Soundview were discussed relative as to whether to raise these issues at the public meeting · M. Norden will ask P. Beltz about mini posters (Phillip subsequently agreed to make the poster which was distributed to stakeholders via emaiO. · All posted information will be entitled the "Hamlet of Greenport" rather than "Greenport West" · S. Holtzberg will secured several easels from Peconic Landing for the meeting · J. Dunbar will arrange for a Suffolk Times 1/4 pg. ad announcing the meeting to be published in the paper's 1/3/2008 edition and will also arrange a listing in the community calendar page of the paper · J Dunbar has secured Mayor Nyce's participation and will remind him of the meeting · A sign-in sheet should be developed for the meeting, capturing phone numbers, email addresses, etc. · S. Holtzberg will investigate either portable mikes or standing mikes at podiums on each side of the auditorium D. Leslie presented a pr6cis of the history of the stakeholder process for new members of our group, covering the DGEIS, Patrick Cleary's work as the Town's outside consultant, Josh's vision, how Scot Russell resurrected the stakeholder process, etc. D. Leslie also presented some of the preliminary findings of the affordable housing committee of the Town; it was decided, however, not to present these findings at the public meeting, since that committee's recommendations have not been enacted by the Town as yet. The next meeting of the Hamlet of Greenport Stakeholders will be held at Peconic Landing on Thursday, January 3, 2007 at 5:30 p.m. Respectfully submitted, Melanie Norden Co-Secretary
