A roundabout was discussed and Don Leslie volunteered to investigate whether a roundabout was currently being considered by the DOT. It was recommended that an emergency temporary traffic light be installed on site before the end of the year. Peter Russo agreed to follow-up on the emergency light recommendation. Some Stakeholder procedural matters were discussed. P. Russo recommended that an agenda be prepared in advance of each meeting, and that the minutes be read at the beginning of the meeting. If stakeholders have recommendations for agendas, they should forward those to Don. P. Russo suggested that when stakeholders next meet with the Planning Board, we make 4-5 very specific recommendations of tasks that we would like the Planning Board/Town to complete. These could include · Clean up of garbage/sand along sides of 25 & 48 by the Town Highway Department · Remove all signs illegally placed on Town property · Remove all cars for sale illegally parked on Town property · Investigate the construction of attractive and serviceable bus shelters, a la Riverhead Ural and others recommended that there be public access with designated parking to all waterways, creeks etc. For example, Ural indicated that the Hudson River Savings Bank should have been asked to designate public parking for those who want to access walking/biking trails/future kayak trails, etc. Don Leslie, Chairman, indicated that he feels the Group should prepare for a public meeting. Involvement of V. Scopaz was discussed. Preparing an agenda for the meeting was also discussed. Mariel Dobler recommended that the group obtain a map from the PB or Town with street names identified, designated areas, etc. P. Russo indicated that when he went to the Town Hall to pick up a map, he was asked to pay for it. Victor and Ural both indicated that they felt the Jernick property would work for a public pool/YMCA. The question was raised whether commercial building should adhere to site plans, even if they build on the same footprint as former buildings on that site. Respectfully submitted, Melanie Norden Co-Secretary
