Sidor Joseph Townsend George Solomon Staff: Mark Terry, Principal Planner & Acting Department Head, 765-1938, x 5022 Phillip Beltz, Special Project Coordinator, 631-298-4460 Guest: Fred Holtzberg Don Leslie, Jr. summarized some of the items the Hamlet of Greenport stakeholders group has discussed in its previous meetings, and indicated that the group had made some progress on the prioritization of the original group's recommendations. HALO zones and their locations were discussed. M. Terry emphasized need to decide on the boundaries of the HALO zones. A discussion of whether the group will approve one or two zones followed. M. Norden explained that many of the group's members were new and may need more time to consider the HALO zones. Ural Talgat emphasized the need for up to date maps so that all lands that could be preserved could be designated. M. Terry agreed to attend a future stakeholders group meeting with those maps. The group's concern regarding Island's End Golf course was discussed, relative to its preservation or selling of development rights if the Course is to be sold. The "boundaries" of the Greenport stakeholders group were discussed. Mark will help designate those when he brings maps to the stakeholders meeting. Discussion arose regarding whether boundaries were designated by school districts, zip codes, etc. The southwestern boundary might be Chapel or Albertson Lane, but since the Southold group has not included Port of Egypt area in their deliberations the Greenport group would be free to do so, said Jerry Woodhouse, Planning Board Chairperson. The Port of Egypt area was discussed, in light of a possible Planned Development Maritime District or Center. Various expanded uses in the area were explored, including boardwalks, bike trails, nature walks, public docks for visiting yachtsmen, "kayak" and "sea" trails, etc. There may be certain recreational uses that the stakeholders group can recommend that would have a public benefit. Ural pointed out the group's interest in recreational activities, including a public pool and the establishment of extended nature trails throughout the area, linking a trail through Moore's Woods, to the KOA area, and then an ultimate linkage to ~the sea." The Silver Lake area was also mentioned as an area that could be linked into a trail system. Joe Townsend pointed out that many of the trails were already in place, and would just need to be linked up. The PB mentioned that each stakeholders group has been allocated the sum of $500.00 for a budget by the Town Board. The next meeting of the Hamlet of Greenport's stakeholder group wffi be on Monday, July 23, 2007 at 5:30 p.m. at Floyd Memorial Library in Greenport.
