Box 1179 Southold, New York 11971-0959 Fax (631) 765-1823 Telephone (631) 765-1889 OFFICE OF THE SUPERVISOR TOWN OF SOUTHOLD Economic Development Committee Meeting Minutes May 03, 2012 Present: John Stype, lan Wile, Donielle Cardinale, Amy Maguire-Burns, Anthony Cocheo, Supervisor Scott Russell and Phillip Beltz. Excused/Absent: Steve Latham, Rona Smith, Linton Duell, Carolyn Fahey and Councilman William Ruland. Suffolk County Link: In the future the EDC website may wish to mirror or link to Suffolk County's link of www.suffolkcountyny..qov/sst Survey Update: lan edited the survey and simplified the link to tiny.cc/southold. He stated that after the Town completes its website, consider changing name for link (e.g. southoldtown.edc). Local Development Corporations: Supervisor discussed concept of local development corporations as Peconic Landing requested that the Town consider establishing such an entity that could support their future expansion efforts. LDC are not required to pay prevailing wages. This is confidential. He distributed a document from Center for Governmental Research on "Local Development Corporations: Risks & Benefits" for review prior to the next meeting. Equestrian Facilities: Supervisor commented that he visited facilities in West Virginia and that aquaculture and equine industries have potential for economic development in Town. EDC Promotional Material: Full agreement that lan's proposed "promotional video" will be valuable in promoting the EDC. Suggested timeframe for implementation is late summer. Business Liaison Position: Phillip reported that one resume was submitted however the deadline for submission is mid-May. Listeninq Tour: Phillip provided revised EDC overview. Suggestion that biographical information of membership include their hamlet of residence--also modify for consistency (length, content, etc.) Amy and John reported that they (along with Carolyn) met with approximately 60 North Fork Chamber members and that the meeting was very positive and productive. Carolyn had provided members the "Suffolk County Guide for Business"--this will be helpful to have for all future meetings. Mattituck Chamber will meet on May 21st, Donielle and Amy will represent EDC. Tony stated that Southold Business Alliance will schedule meeting in the near future. North Fork Promotion Council also will schedule meeting soon. Next Meetinq Date/Time: EDC will meet Thursday, May 17th at 2 p.m. at the Annex. Respectfully submitted, Phillip Beltz
