Box 1179 Southold, New York 11971-0959 Fax (631) 765-1823 Telephone (631) 765-1889 OFFICE OF THE SUPERVISOR TOWN OF SOUTHOLD Economic Development Committee Meeting Minutes April 19, 2012 Present: John Stype, lan Wile, Donielle Cardinale, Amy Maguire-Burns, Rona Smith, Anthony Cocheo, Steve Latham, Linton Duell, Supervisor Scott Russell and Phillip Beltz. Excused: Carolyn Fahey and Councilman William Ruland. Capital One Site: Donielle reported that she is awaiting confirmation from Lee Brodski to attend a meeting with the EDC. Town Board Work Session: Phillip reported that meeting with Town Board was very productive and the Town Board approved hire of Business Liaison. Amend Survey: lan will edit survey to include an additional question regarding impediments due to zoning. Schedule of Listeninq Tour: Spreadsheet of scheduled meetings with community groups updated. It was agreed that after the first round that meetings should be scheduled with "industry specific groups" such as the LI Wine Council, LI Farm Bureau, Marinas, Agriculture, Aquaculture, Bed and Breakfasts, etc. The last cluster will be "general meetings" at local libraries for businesses that might not be affiliated with other groups. It was noted that there is an increase of stores serving Latinos and these businesses should be targeted with surveys. Materials/Packets for Listeninq Tour: Phillip provided a brief description of EDC for distribution at upcoming meetings, lan suggested that description should contain biographical information of EDC membership. Everyone should write a two to three sentence bio that will be included with EDC description. Other: Supervisor Russell stated that at the next meeting he would like to discuss the concept of local development corporations. Phillip suggested that members review the Agriculture Chapter of the Comprehensive Plan on the Town's website as it pertains to the economy.
