ACTION OF THE ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS OF TOWN OF SOUTHOLD

at a meeting of the Zoning Board of Appeols onThursday, September 3 , 195$he appeal
was considered and the action indicated below was taken on your
( ) Request for variance due to lack of access to property
(K ) Request for a special exception under the Zoning Ordinance
( ) Request for a variance to the Zoning Ordinance,
1. SPECIAL EXCEPTION. By resolution of the Board it was determined that a special exception
( ) be granted (X) be denied pursuant to Article...11-T...... Section .3QO....... Subsection. ...11........
paragraph ................ of the Zoning. Ordinance, and the decision of the Building Inspector ( )
be reversed ( )D be confirmed because the public convenience and welfare and
justice will not be served, and the legally established or permitted
use of neighborhood property will be substantially or permanently
injured and the spirit of the Ordinance will not be observed,
therefore be it RESOLVED that the application be denied because it
is not believed to be in the best interests of the Town of Southold
to locate a directional advertising sign on residential property
such as that of Mr. Joseph Sawicki.
8:20 P.M. (E.D.S .T.) , upon application of Helmut Hass, for Southold
Town Beach Motel , North Road, Southold, New York, for a special ex-
ception in accordance with the Zoning Ordinance, Article III, Section
300, Subsection 11, for permission to erect and maintain R directional
advertising sign on the property of Joseph Sawicki, south side North
Road, Southold, New York.
2. VARIANCE. By resolution of the Board it was determined that
(a) Strict application of the Ordinance (would) (would rot) produce undue hardship because

SUBSECTION ~
THE SPECIAL EXCEPTION IS REQUESTED BECAUSE: I wish to ere6t a sign on the
property of Joseph Sawicki, North Road, Southold, N.Y. advertizing ~he Southold
Town Beach ~otel. The sign would be aproximately 3ft by Zft in overall siEe,
permission to locate the sign has been given by Mr. Sawicki. The ~otel is located
on the inside of the curve at Town Beach and is not redily visible until the
motorist is directly at the location, so it is necessary to have additional
advertizing signs in advance of reachingthe location.
It is proposed to use the signs seasonaly, to be put out in the spring
and taken in during the winter.
The Boards favorable consideration will be greatly appreciated.
