HomeMy WebLinkAbout03/2012Department of Public Works Monthly Report Date: March 2012 · On going trail maintenance at Laurel Lake, Downs Farm, Arshamomaque, Arshamomaque Pond, Dam Pond and Mill Road Preserves. · Completed the spring spruce up of the Downs Farm Preserve · Painted and installed window treatment in the Assessors Office. · Made repairs to the ceiling in the Welding Shop at the Highway Department. · Clean debris along the roadways adjoining Town Preserves. · Repaired the generator at the Highway Department. · All of the baseball fields (10) have been prepared for the 2012 season. · Repair and opened Park bathrooms, including complete fixture replacement at Tasker Park men's room. · Began installation of fire doors at the HRC. · Installed solar light at the on west side of the Town Hall entrance. · Looked at erosion issues at the end of 4th Street, New Suffolk, with the High Department. · Repaired dishwasher backsplash at the HRC. · Patched pot holes in Dean's and Cutchogue Parking lots. · Mulched the gardens at the Human Resource Center. · Conducted a safety inspection of all playground equipment at our parks. Removed an old swing set at Klipp Park, Greenport. · Repaired the counter door in the Building Department. · The insulation of the ceiling at the Peconic Lane Community Center has been completed. · Painted handicapped spaces at the Pike Street parking lot. · Spring clean up, outside windows and weeding around Town Hall has been completed. · The SCWA has completed the installation of a water main at the Laurel Lake Preserve. Site restoration (seeding) of the disturbed areas is scheduled for April. · Attended a meeting with Fuel master in reference to the Fuel Management System. · Corrected Suffolk County Department of Health violations at the Peconic Lane Community Center, in reference to labeling of fuel oil tank and a light out on the overfill alarm. · Tim Abrams is working with Suffolk Security System on problems with the alarm system at Town Hall. New panel to be installed. · Attended a meeting of the Safety Committee and a Department Head meeting. · Attended a meeting with LIPA in reference to wire removal on the Sound View Dunes (Bittner) property. · Attended a meeting with the Land Preservation staff in reference to work to be done in reference to the acquiring of the Manor Grove Preserve. · Installed 4 new soccer nets at Strawberry Fields Fairgrounds for the 2012 season. · Renovations to the 4th room at the Peconic Lane Community Center are almost complete. The stage is being repaired, sanded and polyurethane applied. The carpet is to be installed, in the room, the first week of April. · Tim Abrams is working with NY Fire Company and Lighthouse Security on the alarm system at the Southold Animal Shelter. · DPW Maintenance Mechanics completed EPA training and certification on lead paint abatement. · DWP staff (6) made repairs to the Fishers Island Police Barracks, with the balance of the repairs scheduled for completion in April. · Attended a Recreation Committee meeting. · Removed the signs on Town properties in reference to the 2011/2012 Deer Management Program.
