Schuler 1865 Nassau Point Road, Cutchogue, NY P.O. Box 151 Re: Appeal No. 3343 - Wilbur Baldwin May 29, 1985 Dear Mr o Schuler: This letter will confirm that pursuant to your request the following action was taken at a Regular Meeting of the board held on Thursday, May 2, 1985 concerning the above application: RESOLVED, that Appeal No. 3343, application for Wilbur Baldwin be and hereby is WITHDRAWN WITHOUT PREJUDICE. This resolution was unanimously adopted. Yours very truly, GERARD P. GOEHRINGER CHAIRMAN br cc: Building Department NASSAU POINT PROPERTY OWNERS ASSOCIATION 65C NASSAU POINT ROAD CU3CHOGUE,N.Y. 11935 Richard 3. Stauffer President April 20, 1785 Hr. Gerard P. Goehringer, Board of Appeals Town of Southold Southotd, New York 11771 Chairman Dear Hr. Goehringer: Our. Association has had the opportunity to review the request for a variance to construct an auxiliary and separate home on the property presently containing the of Hr,&.Hos. W.BaldwJ~ on the corner of Vanston and Haydn(ers Rds. home As you Know, the Directors of our Association are extremely concerned about the water supply on Nassau Point. This problem has been aggravated in the last few years by the building surge on legal lots. Therefore, our Board passed a resolution 0_.~.~_.~_~ any variance which would allow more than one living dwelling per legal lot, and support your full and vigorous enforcement of the current town codes. We understand the applicant's desire is to help out an aging parent/grandparent. However, the Association does not feel that the water supply of all the residents of Nassau Point should be threatened by the construction of second structures on a single building lot and we are fearful that if such a variance is granted, Pandora's box will open and you will be inundated by similar requests -- most of which will be monetarily motivated. As a practical remedy, I believe the Baldwin family singly and collectively own three other homes on Nassau Point any of which could be used as a home base for helping family members. Sincerely yours, Richard T. Stauffer President April 17, 1985 Board of Appeals Town of Southold Southold, New York 11971 Dear Sirs: I hereby oppose a variance for the proposed guest house on the Baldwin property. No town, no matter what the hardship, would allow this structure. To be brief, how would you feel if one of the Board members owned the adjacent property. There is no need to get into its legality, for it surely would devalue the surrounding property and ruin the rural concept of living on Nassau Point. JFH:ljm ~ox C~d~o~, NY JUDITH T.
