Minutes & Discussion Notes from Meeting held
Thursday, January 19, 2012 at 6:00 p.m.

Commencement:
· The meeting began at 6:15 p.m. with six LPC members present.
General Land Preservation Items:
· PRESERVATION PROGRAM PROCESS AND RANKING
Meeting focused on Farmland Preservation program. Open Space program will be reviewed at a later
date.
Ray Huntington presented hand-out with his comments pertaining to GML 247 and other legislation.
Other members had commented on proposed rating/ranking criteria and program process via e-mail.
LPC discussed different rating criteria and categories for farmland.
LPC discussed potential rating/ranking criteria and proposed categories for rating/ranking farmland
projects.
LPC discussed proposed boundaries for Priority Areas. LPC members sketched out proposed areas
consisting of Western Southold, Central $outhold and Eastern $outhold. John Sepenoski was asked
to map out the discussed proposed boundaries and to run some statistics on areas for further review
by LPC.
LPC discussed what properties would be considered farmland. It was recommended that farmland
would include any property on the Town's farmland inventory or evidence from the owner that the
property should be added to the inventory.
LPC members requested additional information re: soil type definitions for further discussion and
categorization.
LPC will continue discussion and review of the above and will discuss recommendations for program
process at a subsequent meeting

Next Regular Meeting:
· The next regular meeting will be held on January 24, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. in the Annex Executive
Board Room.

· The meeting was adjourned at 8:00 p.m. by the six attending LPC members.
