HomeMy WebLinkAbout01/2012Department of Public Works Monthly Report Date: January 2012 · On going trail maintenance and storm damage clean up on Laurel Lake, Downs Farm, Arshamomaque, Arshamomaque Pond, Dam Pond and Mill Road Preserves. · Checked all of the walking trails for proper signage and replaced or repaired signs, as needed. · Removed floating docks at New Suffolk Boat Ramp and Klipp Park for the winter. · Installed a stove hood at the Southold Recreation Center for the Human Resource Center Outreach Program. · Installed signs for the 2012 Deer Nuisance Permit Program and removed signs for the 2011 Deer Management Program. · Removed the old fence between the Peconic Recreation Center and the Peconic Community Center. Removed and limbed up trees and brush. A walkway between the buildings will be installed in the spring. · Installed 2 new boardwalks, over wetlands at the Arshamomaque Preserve as part a grant for the "Bay to Sound" project. · Removed an old fence that ran down the center of the Police Department Impound Yard making it easier to storing vechicles in the yard. · Successfully completed the annual Goldsmith Inlet Dredge Project. · Attended a meeting with Henrich Equipment, Town DPW Electrician Tim Abrams and Town Electrical Inspector, in reference to up grading the emergency shut off and electrical hook up at the Police Department Fuel Facility. · Installed snow fence at the Sound View Dunes (Bittner) Preserve in the area that was recently planted with beach grass. · Started the Sound Avenue Road Armoring project, funded in part by FEMA. · Started the renovations to the 4th room at the Peconic Lane Community Center (sheetrock, spackle, painting and repairs to the stage). Work should be completed in the middle of February. · Repaired the washer, dryer and the sanitizer at the Animal Shelter. · Cut back the trails at Dam Pond Preserve. · Ordered a new fuel containment tank for the Southold Highway Department. · Created a list of items to be repaired at the Fishers Island Police Barracks by DPW, for completion in the spring of 2012.
