Town Board Updates
Nassau Point Road - Stop Signs
Neb reported that, as there was no substantial community support, the Town Board voted
against the placement of Stop signs at Vanston Road. That action by the Town Board had been
previously recommended by the Commission.
Mill Road, Peconic - No Parkinq Issues
The Town Board maintained its earlier ruling that parking would be prohibited on that road -
from the beach to Route 48.
Harbes FamilyWinery, Mattituck
With respect to traffic control issues, private security may assist with parking issues without
attempting to control traffic on Route 48. The Planning Board retains the right of final site plan
approval.
Route 48 Vineyard - Peconic
Parking issues and disorderly persons at that venue are of concern. Particularly, limos and
vans have been found to be parking on the adjacent Depot Lane. The Town of Southold and the
State Liquor Authority are addressing the problem.
Satur Farms, Alvah's Lane - Cutchoque
No Parking signs have been installed at that location. It is also understood that some the
Satur's operations may be moved to Calverton.
East End Transportation Council
Neb reported that the Council's scheduled meeting had been cancelled. The Council will
meet with the East End Supervisors & Mayors Association in early 2012 concerning the review and
implementation of the SEEDS recommendations. The Council will also meet with each of the local
town boards for updates on that issue.
NYMTC has indicated that it is still seeking substantive input from East End governments
concerning transportation issues.

Current Transportation Issues
Southold/Greenport Bus Shelters
The SCDPW will develop Requests for Proposals for the placement of two shelters. Neb
will ask Jamie Richter to follow up with SCDPW concerning the placement of the Southold shelter
(understood to be on Route 25 in way of the library).
Orientation / Interpretive Si.qnage Proiect
The RBA Group will contact the Southold Historical Society concerning the placement of
and access to the signage on SHS's property.
Parking Restriction - Villaqe Lane & King Street - Orient
A public hearing concerning that issue will be held in the spring of 2012.
Streetlight Placement - Birch Drive - Laurel
The Commission recommended that a request by a local resident for a streetlight
placement be denied. Jamie Richter advised that, as access to Peconic Bay Boulevard at that
intersection is well lighted, that residents should consider the placement of a motion sensor light in
way of the rear of his property.
Streetlight Placement - Shipyard Lane - East Marion
The Cleaves Point Condo Owners Association contacted Chief Flatley requesting the
placement of a streetlight at the end of Shipyard Lane. Referring to the stripping of scrap metal at
the adjacent abandoned industrial site, as well as loitering by kids, the Chief responded that he
would institute extra patrols and would recommend the placement of a streetlight there. The
Commission agreed with his recommendation and will forward it to the Town Board for its
consideration.
Prohibiting U-Turns on Love Lane, North of Pike Street - Mattituck
Chief Flatley advised that the Police Department will conduct a traffic survey at that
location, in way of the municipal parking lot. If necessary, appropriate signage will be
recommended. A memo will be sent to the Town Board concerning the results of the study.
