Narrative - Drainage of Pavement Area
An overflow pipe is proposed which will discharge to the creek when tidal flooding
e~--'~r~- ~he flow rate fl~rough the veflioal drain. Wben the level oflhe creek rises to the
level of the pipe outlet, ~he proposed b~ck flow I~'venter will prevent high tidal
conditions from flooding tl~ Imved ar~s until conditions are beck to normal.
Because the location of thls inlet and vertical drain, ~here is concern about the potential'
that ovedlows to lhe creek may contain contnminnms flora the lmved arv~ Minor
amounts of hydrooarbons from vchicle~ and lhe lmVemant itscffnre the most likely
contaminants to ente~ lhe system. They would mostly remain at the water surface within
the drainage structure. A tee section is proposed on the outlet which will PreVent
overflow discharge f~om the water surhce. When the water level drops, any floating
contaminants would enter ~he soil below rather than beirig dischfllgcd to thc CreW. A cap
will be provided in the tee to permit pipe cleaning, if necessa;y.
